The AMD Driver Thread

VSR not coming for the 7 series, yet this says otherwise.

AMD Robert

We're bringing up to 4K VSR to all R9 and R7 Series products, 260 and higher, with a driver update in Jan/Feb. The 280X/280/270X/270 lack some specific hardware that architecturally newer products (285 & 290s) have, so an alternative implementation must be explored. That will take a little more time.

Rest easy, bud. We'll get you the feature you care about.

Sincerely,

Robert

If amd have been sitting on crossfire profiles in order to do one driver release for everything then they have shot themselves in the foot.

They need to show intent to release crossfire profiles and just regular game profiles for that matter as early as possible in order to turn things around at the top end of the market.

Crossfire may only be a small segment of the market but it's the end of the market where the serious money is spent. It's also where the prestige for the brand comes from.

To be honest it seems to me that amd is struggling with lack of resources in their driver team and it looks like a risk to buy a high end amd card that might not get driver support for a full 2 or 3 years. The only thing that will turn it around for me now is rapid and regular driver updates to support the latest games with crossfire support as close to release as possible.

Sorry matt :(

I agree with the guys and crossfire profiles. I would have grabbed a pair of 290Xs if the games I play had profiles (primarily Elite Dangerous) and they lost a sale. I am not even sure if it will be in this driver, as Matt did say it would be in a future driver but not these (unless I have mistaken it?)

as i said before it's taken 3 months for what? just to add freesyinc and afew crossfire profiles, oh and VSR for 260>

if there's a lack of resources in their driver team then just release smaller amount in the update drivers so it'll be more frequent releases

That's it I'm voting with my feet, bye bye ATI and hello Nvidia 980.

ATI need to get their house in order, no driver updates since 12/9/2014 (or 9-Dec-14 for us Brits) is just not acceptable.

I'm not particularly impacted by any bug, it's just principle really, as a long time ATI card user this is a really sad state of affairs.
