The AMD Driver Thread

@AMDMatt

dropped clocks to stock, still getting those BF1 crashes.

And what is it with Radeon Settings Control Panel always crashing and not responding whenever I try and maximise.
I DDU’d and no longer crashing in BF1, stock or overclocked.

I see the second issue though, don’t maximise for now Tony. I drag the window up to make it bigger and that works okay.

definitely going to reinstall and DDU..just started up BF1 and was greeted with this.

I'm hoping AMD in future drivers implement a better clean install function that removes older registry entries etc.... so we don't have to keep using DDU.

They do :D to activate it you just need to download the driver directly from AMD and run the download while you still have the current driver installed. You will then be given an option to clean install.

I am getting it with fury as well as vega.. clean installs ect.
Thought it might have been the DP - hdmi converter i have but vega had native hdmi so not that.

Yeah I don't know what to try to fix it, it was a problem with my Fury X and hoped it wouldn't be there with VEGA, I guess it could be

1. Drivers
2. Win10
3. Monitor

or a combination of the above:confused:

I've had to go back to a previous driver, way to many issues with 17.11.1 - from flickering screens, BF1 DX1 crashes (thought i'd fixed it but still crashing), Wattman Crimson window becoming unresponsive and crashing when maximising or altering window size.

@AMDMatt, any thoughts on the above, rest of my systems specs are:

AMD Graphics Card = Gigabyte VEGA 64 AIO (GV-RXVEGA64X W-8GD-B)
Desktop or Laptop System = Desktop
Operating System = Win 10 Version 1709
Driver version installed = 17.11.1
Display Devices = Acer XR341CK Displayport 3440 x 1440
Motherboard = GA-X99-Designare EX F4 BIOS
CPU = Intel Core i7 5930K
Power Supply Unit Make, Model & Wattage = EVGA Supernova g2 1600w
RAM = 16 GB Crucial BLE4G4D26AFEA, 8FAD

My thread over at community.amd.com isn't getting much love either, I'm going to open a ticket with Gigabyte today as well.

Cheers

I get a link failure message in Radeon Settings under the notification tab, but that's it i can easily just ignore it. Is that what you see?

I don't have a solution, but i can share feedback with engineering if people can provide the above specs which you provided. Main thing i'm interested in is GPU/Driver/OS version, monitor make and model and how its connected to the GPU.

For me it's not just a annoying message, sometimes after a link failure Freesync seems to no longer be available, my refresh rate bumps down to 30hz and sometimes the screen defaults back to 800x600 and you can't set another resolution, the only thing that will fix is a reboot.

Just turning your monitor off and on again doesn't work?

Sometimes my ASUS MG279Q boots with 90Hz max. available refresh rate. Turning it off and on again brings 120 and 144Hz back. No need to restart the PC.

This was more common on my Fury X than it is on my Vega 64, but it still happens occasionally.
