The AMD Driver Thread

Is this guy employed by AMD or does he just want to be?

Maybe you should watch this as all i seen in that video was good stuff from AMD which he was pretty impressed by. I think he does want AMD to do well as it's in most peoples interests that they do if you buy PC hardware. He actually thinks the graphics war is over now and Nvidia are to far in front which is a lot of people seem to think. That's hardly the thoughts of an AMD fan and more a realistic thought.

That doesn't mean he's not massively biased. There are people on this forum that are considered Nvidia biased, saying a few good things about AMD doesn't stop them being considered Nvidia biased.

I just get the feeling (I have no proof, obviously) that if this was Nvidia software he'd have been much harsher and more critical of almost every feature.

I've got a Vega 64 and there's little in this driver release that excites me.

I agree that I will probably not use much of this but it's still really nice features especially for those that will. Enhanced sync will be getting turned on though and its for all gcn users. They could have said only for the latest models. He might favour AMD more than Nvidia but it has not stopped him telling it the way it is. The graphics leader (Nvidia) has an interface from 19 canteen in comparison. On the software side AMD are doing good things and it should be commended as its what people are asking for.

All they they now is the hardware to match. Navi better be a master class or Adored might be right about the Graphics war being over.

This is a bit of a strange one, Destiny 2 related, but bare with me...

Anyone find their computers crashing completely whilst fighting Calus? Especially in the void room. Well seems explicitly in the void room. Computer completely shuts down. Have to turn off PSU and unplug the PC till mobo lights go out. Then plug in and reboot.

Had this happen to me, across 2 different PCs so can't be hardware, can it? Recently built myself a new PC. Re-installed drivers. Tried everything. Doesn't happen all the time mind you.

Went from RX480 to Vega 64.

Only common things are windows 10 and AMD drivers.

All a bit weird.

Only tried the new drivers briefly yesterday but had noticeable performance drop in a quick run of Superposition Benchmark and when trying PUBG test server, reinstalled 17.11.4-Nov27 driver and back to normal.
PUBG felt like it might be a freesync issue as the screen was flickering/flashing and frame pacing all felt a bit off. Weirdly the Steam overlay FPS counter was reporting a much higher FPS than the AMD overlay would but the game felt lower than either reported.

Did a clean install last time, so when I get a bit more time I'll try again with doing an install over the top and then maybe with DDU. V.odd. :/

Be nice to be able to have the Performance Metrics Overlay, assigned to a single key, like you can with Afterburners RTSS, as its bit fiddly having to whack 2/3x all the time to get it off/on. :p

Same with me, Huge performance drop with the Adrenalin drivers. A drop of around 800 from the 17.11.4 in the Superposition benchmark. I tried both clean install and install and tried with and without using DDU.

Anyone else notice a performance decrease with these new drivers?
