The AMD Driver Thread

Then you need to follow him to make this claim lol he is very happy to talk good about Amd just has much as Nvidia.
How his this channel any different to others reporting on new Amd driver? Would you say this about Pcper who did a 30min video?

And FYI enhanced-sync is nothing like adaptive-sync its completely new, it's more closer to nvidia fastsync.
I said Adaptive-VSync not Adaptive-Sync.
I can't find anything about Nvidia Fast-Sync on the Nvidia site.

Any suggestions where to start for his videos? All I can see are load of AMD videos a few "GeFails" type videos and a couple of review videos.

Yeah I ment to say Adaptive-Vsync. Its still not the samething! It is "VERY" different

Victory to Nvidia

Only GPU that matters, more favour towards Nvidia

ripping into AMD "POOR VEGA"

I wont go ON! You just find what you like for your own agenda, matter of a fact he has made more videos bashing AMD than he has for Nvidia! But you wouldn't know because you dont follow his channel! And just jump the gun bashing him because he makes a video praising AMD for the new driver release, just like every other tech site! For what? Cant AMD do something good?
You always find something to dig into GM always nit pick at rubbish. Half the time am sure you do this all on purpose lol

Samsung C32HG70

If there is any update, it would be very appreciate.

I know, but both of this games(Crysis 2, Mafia 3) about 144hz I find can only work with Nvidia card (Nvidia settings > Preferred refresh rate > Highest available).

In Mafia 3 try this, it's what works for me......when in the game turn off your monitor then turn it back on.......initially I'm on 60Hz then once I turn the monitor off then on I'm on 144Hz....this is on Asus MG279Q with DP connection.

And you don't find what you like for your own agenda? I think everyone does.

My understanding (from reading anandtech) is that enhanced sync is sort of like a combination of Fast-Sync and Adaptive-Vsync. Which, if true, doesn't seem like it's VERY different.

I stick by my opinion that I think there's very little in the AMD driver update for me to get excited about.

Also, I'm sure AMD can do something good.

Its nothing like Adaptive-Vsync! Fastsync is nothing like Adaptive-Vsync!

For one they dont use Vsync. Enhanced-sync only works above the refresh rate. Meaning it doesn't lock the frame rate to max refresh I.E 144hz = 144fps
Enhanced-sync will allow the frame rate to go what ever your GPU can output 300fps on 144hz will display only complete frames no screen tear.

No vsync latency issue.

Adaptive-Vsync only switches Vsync on and off and matches the frame rate to refresh 60hz = 60fps under 60hz - vsync motion stutter and latency issues.

Enhanced-sync is perfect for anyone using 60hz and or anyone that can keep frame rate over refresh and works perfectly with Freesync also.

I didn't expect they to be anything in the AMD drivers to get you excited about! It will requare something "MASSIVE" to please Mr GM :P

The anandtech article said enhanced sync also turns off when under the limit, hence there being tearing at lower framerates.
It also said that with Fast-Sync it doesn't work great unless you're at double your monitors refresh rate (e.g. 120fps on a 60Hz monitor) but they were only speculating that enhanced sync works the same. Also I think they were talking about the initial Enhanced Sync, not sure if it's changed much in this release.

And yes, I'm not easily impressed. Adding 4 different skins to an app just doesn't do it for me (neither do other things I won't find useful).

That is correct and why I said "only works above the refresh rate" But anyone with a 1080p monitor and decent enough GPU can easy keep Frames above 60fps
or VEGA @1440p 60hz
144hz is very game depending. But I notice Enhanced-sync fixes tearing even just abit above 144hz. Only last night I was testing it with Resi Evil 7.

Enhanced-sync + Freesync is the best of both worlds.

Turning off, leaving you with tearing but no input lag (i.e. VSync off) is what Adaptive VSync does. So how is that VERY different?

By not adding Vsync input lag and motion judder when being switched on above the refresh. It doesn't wait for display to add full image so the input lag is very low and doesn't have motion judder. Its far better if like I said it only works if you can keep above refresh rate.

Adaptive-Vsync wont allow you to go above refresh rate and when you match the refresh rate you now have the downfalls of Vsync.

That's because of what it does when you go above your monitor's refresh rate. When you're below the monitor's refresh rate they do the same thing right? Basically turn off VSync. I think Fast-Sync deals with the "above" stuff, which is why anandtech described enhanced sync as a combo of the 2. So if Enhanced Sync is a combo of Fast Sync and Adaptive VSync how can it be very different from one of those parts?

Am not completely sure what happens with Enhanced-sync when below Refresh rate! Never tested it with me having Freesync. I have just noticed in that screenshot I posted above AMD saying Decreases stutter when frame rate is below refresh rate. I never knew this until now!

All I know is Enhanced-sync gives better results above refresh rate.

Same with me, Huge performance drop with the Adrenalin drivers. A drop of around 800 from the 17.11.4 in the Superposition benchmark. I tried both clean install and install and tried with and without using DDU.

Anyone else notice a performance decrease with these new drivers?

It's a bit buggy bat the moment, I've had it crash a few times when I've tried to get the on screen info working for some games, best thing we can do is fill in bug reports.

Vulkan API recording working excellent.

Whats the performance hit for you?

After installed day of release (full DDU/install), kept getting stuttering on everything, even just watching youtube.
Seemed to fix itself after another reboot & everything works great now.
Except for the mobile app, but not sure if that's because of my phone or whatever.

Far right UI pop up seems an odd choice, but dare say will get used to it :)
