The AMD Driver Thread

I'm unable to complete a race in Dirt Rally without the game closing down and a Radeon settings error crash message appearing.

I just tried Dirt 4 which seems okay so I've put a ticket in for Dirt Rally.

I'm using the 17.12.2 driver (newest one).

Also, I'm on Win 10 pro.

I know it's a pain, but is there any chance you could try 17.11.1 and see if the game still crashes and run the superposition benchmark. Then try 17.12.2 and see what happens.

Because I am just after trying the 17.12.2's after saying I wouldn't and I still get the performance drop but, the 3d mark doesn't crash anymore for me.

Do you mean 17.12.1?

If you look at this screenshot it has my result with the card you now have in the bottom left corner and the result I got today in the top right corner and todays result is almost 1000 points slower than the result I did with your card a while ago. Plus there's a cpu overclock on today's result while they're wasn't on the older result.

Yeah, it's a pretty big drop. I just thought, maybe the Custom cards might be different. But thinking about it, the only drivers that you can really try out are 17.11.4, 17.12.1 and 17.12.2 as the earlier ones don't read the AIB clocks properly.

So I guess I mean you should try 17.11.4 and see what the performance is like and see does it crash when playing Dirt rally.

For me, 17.12.2, are much better than 17.12.1. No crashes, and while the performance drops in Superposition, everything else is fine and get better scores in 3D mark.

Dirt Rallys fine here on Win 7, on the 17.12.1 WHQLs.

Good to know, I'm sure they'll get around to fixing it, I've been doing some testing to see how the Ryzen 5 and Vega Nitro handle ultrawide when recording and I can't get the overlay to work so I'm using the fraps counter but based on that it's doing great, Dirt 4 with the highest possible settings never dips below 60 and tends to be well North of that while recording at 3440x1440.

This is strange. After talking to shanks earlier, decided to update to 17.12.2 from previous driver which was perfect lol. And now since on new driver, games and YouTube videos are taking ages to load. What' all that about?

That shouldn't be anything to do with drivers though should it? Is it peak time as I get some slowdown with Virgin internet?

Was getting green screen for about a second when using desktop & internet after playing games with 17.12.2. Fine on desktop after boot and whilst playing but as soon as I stopped they began.

Back to 12.1 all seems ok

Depends how loud your fans get and how much that bothers you.

With my 480 with newer more taxing games I cap at 60 and then go up in stages of 30 as games get less demanding using chill if it doesn't cause stutters to drop back to 60 if needed

it shouldnt be, but everything was fine prior to installing this driver, even today 10 minutes before i installed it, everything was loading as normal.

Very strange one mate, I dont have this issue.

I'm not seeing an issue either. You should check whether reverting back to the other driver after a DDU fixes the issue.

Overlay has stopped working for me with 17.12.2. Anyone else found this?

I'm having issues with it too, I know it wasn't working with borderless full screen at one point but now I've found other games with issues and Radeon settings often ends up crashing with a not responding message when I try to turn the onscreen overlay on in game..

Theres too many problems with it at the minute, so im back on Afterburner and RTSS to display the performance metrics, and to cap my frames, works without issue.

every so often relive brings up it's screen that takes over the game I'm in. It's not switched on but it seems to be maybe linked to a key combo. Any way to turn it off?

I've just got Battlefront II and I'm playing Arcade as the download completes, In DX11 it's fine but I tried DX12 and it's like a slideshow, Has anyone else had this issue?

Is it the same for the campaign?

EDIT: I'm getting some odd issues where the fans keep spinning high then low then high again and you can hear a fan hitting something as it spins fast but I can't see anything, The game is also crashing within a couple of minutes...
