The AMD Driver Thread

Whats the general consensus on which Adrenalin driver to go for, 12.1 or 12.2? It seems a bit of a mixed bag. I'm running an rx580 win10.

I'm going to download both but am wondering whether to skip onto 12.2 straight away.

Oh no!, not another faulty card :(
What do you make of this pic, It looks like there's a ghost picture in the background so I need someone with BF2 and Vega to see if they also see it during the first mission meaning it's a driver issue, It's happening about 10 minutes in and remains until the mission ends. I'm gonna go and check some other games for now..

Known issue with latest driver. Reduce AO quality

It just crashed out of COD WWII as well and then the desktop froze forcing me to do a reboot.

It's been fine up toyesterday, That said I only just got COD WWII and Battlefront 2 yesterday. I'm gonna go back to the driver before Adrenalin to see what happens with that.

Where did you read it's a known issue?

Hope its just a driver issue, and not another Vega prob for you. :(

I've rolled back to the 17.11.4 driver and so far it's been okay so fingers crossed that it is the driver, I certainly don't want to get rid of it, not after cutting my case apart for it to fit :D.

Am sure I seen it in the known issues within patch notes now I dont see it. They is some videos and forum posts about it though. Search Battlefront 2 Ghosting
I have also seen this on my end also.

Fair enough, I've just done mission 2 in BFII with no similar issues. The only problem was I keep dying :D

Performance is good though, At 3440x1440 it's remained above 60 fps with max settings which is great. The visuals on land are excellent but the visuals where you're watching space battles look like last gen cut scenes. It's the space ship models letting it down.

GET THE **** IN!, I FIXED ME FAKEFACTORY MODDED HL2 AND ITS EPISODES!!! :D :D :D

What i did was, i copied all the *.vpk and *.cache files, from the originals folders, into their corresponding ones, inside the FakeFactory mod.

For example :-

All the *.vpk and *.cache files from Steam/steamapps/common/half-life 2, i copied into, steam/steamapps/sourcemods/fakefactory_cm12 (in my case)/HL2, and the same for the episodic, and the ep2 folders.

The only ones i didn't copy, were the modelsounds.cache from the originals half-life 2 folder, the modelsounds.cache and the scene.cache, from the originals episodic folder, and the modelsounds.cache from the originals ep2 folder, as i found they were already present, inside their corresponding folders, inside the fakefactory mod folder.

Hopefully a roll-back has sorted it then :D

Well thats odd, i rebooted my rig, and fired my fakefactory modded hl2 back up, and it went back to booting up with a black screen, requiring a hard restart :(, so, i recopied all the files over again, and BOOM!, it worked again (also fired up Afterburner before it this time), only this time, all my video settings were set, they didn't go back to defaults, like the first time, anyway, to cut a long story short, i worked out the problem, i didn't fire up Afterburner first when id rebooted, with my 80fps cap set (which i always do anyway with all my games), before firing it up, so i rebooted again, fired up Afterburner, then my fakefactory modded hl2, and voila, worked, so it turns out, ive got to fire up Afterburner first, with a frame cap, or it boots to a black screen, requiring a hard restart, so i didn't need to recopy the files back across :p

I also tested the theory, to make sure that was it, by booting up Afterburner, without a frame cap set, and yep, it booted to a black screen, requiring a hard restart :D

EDIT: Wonder if that was just the prob all along, and i didn't need to copy those files across, when i tried it when i first got my Vega, i just can't remember, if when id tried it back then, if it was before id got the latest Afterburner on, that supports Vega.

So far so good, I've also booted up and played through the Titanfall 2 training level with no problems. Panic over :D

YAY! :D

Looks like that might have been it all along, as ive just stopped Black Mesa from booting up in windowed mode (which i had to do when that was doing the same, booting up to a Black screen requiring a hard restart), and it booted fine with Afterburner and my frame cap set too :p, so it must have been before i got Afterburner on with my Vega when i first tried them. :D

Its weird though, why i would need Afterburner running with a frame cap set for them to work  :D

I'm part way through episode 2 at the moment, Have you got Black Mesa & the Half Life 2: Update ?

I was using Fake Factory myself but the Update is a free mod on Steam with it's own store page and achievements etc, it's not as drastic a change as Fake Factory but it's free if you own the original HL2. Black Mesa is a Half Life 1 remake on the Half Life 2 platform that started it's life at the Moddb site until Steam allowed it to be sold on Steam. Both are worth getting.

EDIT: I forgot the links :D Sorry.

Black Mesa has 75% off at the moment too.

There is something wrong with the Adrenalin drivers. I have been saying that for ages now.
