The AMD Driver Thread

Looks like unwinder is removing MSI Afterburner RTSS Support for AMD GPUs. It's not clear at what capacity IE: async compute games or entirely.

Edit:
disable OSD support for Vulkan applications using present from compute queue on AMD cards (Doom and Wolfenstein 2). For experienced users understanding that performance penalty is expected in this case I’ll leave an ability to enable it via profiles.

Just switched back to my Fury X (from GTX 980) and installed the latest drivers (18.9.3).
I had loads of issues. For a start the Radeon Settings app seemed missing. It was in the right-click menu but wasn't in the notification area and would open if I clicked it in the right click menu. I eventually got it working by installing older drivers and upgrading. Seemed ok for the rest of the day, then today the PC just crashed every few minutes with a VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR.
DDU'd it and let Windows install it's drivers (17.1.1 I think). Seemed more stable under them (if it was going to crash it took longer than it was on 18.9.3). I used the 18.9.3 minimal web installer to upgrade the drivers and it installed 18.5.1.
That's what I'm on now, bit early to tell how these are.

Anyone else had issues like this?

(I'm running Windows 10, if that makes a difference)

Hello,

Please @LtMatt if you are so kind to test this

Voltage on idle for my Sapphire Nitro+ 64 on the default balanced profile in wattman:

GsGo7HC.png

Then I set 1100mV on both P6 an P7 and restart the system, voltage on idle is 0.9V now

Why doesn't it idle at 0.762V anymore? Thank you :)

Why you bother about voltage? As you see the chip power is just 6W it cannot go lower.

Because I get a little bit higher temps, and because it does not happen when undervolting with MSI AB, in fact MSI AB applies undervolt on every PSTATE so on idle it stays at ~0.638V

I thought it could be a bad windows installation and even did a fresh install and did not install AB this time but it happens the same :(

I'd like to forget about using AB, but I won't until I can fix this bug.

Further to this, in Event viewer I keep getting warning saying "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
It's happened 7 times today, 101 times yesterday and 86 times the day before.

Prior to this I was running a GTX 980 and only got this for Nvidia drivers twice (the first being on the 4th June). So it seems to be specific to the AMD drivers and not a common occurrence (well, until I installed an AMD card).

Have you tried Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode for both Nvidia drivers and AMD?
If you not doing any overclocking on the GPU this might be a sign of the GPU failing or a software issue with Windows.

The only time I have had Display driver crash is from unstable GPU from OC and from a badly coded early access game.

I did use DDU, multiple times.

I guess it could be the GPU failing, which would be annoying as it hasn't been used much.

I'm back to my overclock not being active when I boot up the PC, Last night I closed down the PC as you normally do, ie choose the Shutdowm option in the bottom left corner of the desktop. I turn it om this morning and it's back to stock clocks. I'm not sure why it's doing this, I did a clean ddu install to try and fix it a few days back but it's still not adding the overclock to the gpu. I don't have any of the third party softwares installed, Adrenalin lets us do everything so I use that. For the cpu overclock I'm using the Asus AI suite 3 software. Any suggestions?

Is anyone else experience this? ^^

Are you getting the "Radeon has reset itself" notification? If so check your Windows fastboot settings. Big windows updates tend to reset this.
