The AMD Driver Thread

Probably a game that no-one's likely to play ever again as it is an awful game with terrible mechanics but a heads up for anyone that does.

I decided to play Dead Island Riptide definitive edition (I have a Vega 64) and it is unplayable if Relive is on. It freezes every few seconds, Turning Relive off fixed it and it runs silky smooth, although that doesn't make up for how bad the game is. :)
I'm wondering if it's Relive or if it's having Instant Replay on so I'll test that later and update this post if needed.

Yeah my main monitor is DP, my secondary was DVI now HDMI-to-DVI since my Vega 56 has no DVI ports. If they were able to fix this for Vega I wonder why not for Polaris?

Same, I really hope this driver doesn't have the FreeSync flicker issue all recent drivers have had on my setup!

No freesync flicker here on my current 75hz monitor.

no flicker here on either of my two monitors; 1 aoc and 1 lg, however have previously had it with an older firmwared aoc monitor(which used to fixable by clciking 'Alt-enter' twice in game to make sure the game was true fullscreen. those who experience flciker may want to check they are running in true fullscreen in game.

Hi guys, I recently bought myself a new Vega 56 from the black friday deal as part of my new PC build, however I seem to be getting random and frequent BSOD's. They occur mainly when browsing online, and ESPECIALLY when I'm going on youtube using Google chrome. The BSOD code is Page Fault In Nonpaged Area, and I noticed that the recent cause of it was from the atikmdag.sys driver.

I have Adrenalin 18.11.12 (and also had the previous driver 18.9.3), and the GPU is paired with an ASUS Prime Z270-A motherboard. I've ran a memtest overnight and there aren't any problems with the RAM or anything, has anyone come across this issue before?

If this isn't enough info I apologise, please let me know if you need anything else

Those types of (vague) errors point towards RAM. I would turn off the graphics hardware acceleration in the browser settings for a start.

Then disable all the addons to see if the issue goes away. Turn them on one by one if you want to find the offender.

Also check your event viewer and filter to the critical errors and see what else is bad enough around the time of the crash.

Already done in both Chrome and Firefox, sometimes I get BSOD's without even being in the browser, the ones I get in the browser just occur far more frequently. I'm using a set of GSkill DIMMs - namely Gskill F4-3200C16D-16GVGB - wonder if there are any known issues with them or something, a memtest couldn't find any errors/issues =/

Um not really to be honest, I think it has happened once or twice before but I can't quite remember why exactly, the majority of the times it has happened has been when using the browser and especially when going on YouTube

Edit: My system is also stock, no OC's

Okay update, I think I mayyyy have fixed it. I read that the Vega 56 is only compatible with UEFI, and I remembered I had enabled the CSM along with disabling secure boot in order to install windows off a USB drive (for whatever reason I had to do this). But after that I never disabled CSM, so I disabled it just now, made sure that everything was full UEFI, and so far it seeeems to have worked somewhat. I'm not having the 1-2 seconds freezes when browsing or going on YouTube, so I'll keep an eye out and update everyone accordingly. Hopefully this works!

Edit: Okay nvm it's still not working

Vega most certainly works without UEFI.

So I've updated the motherboard to it's latest firmware, run DDU, installed 18.9.3 and I'm still seeing random 1-2 second freezes... Gonna try to keep digging

Freezes with what? How's the CPU doing, is it spiking at these freezes? Have you tried some kind of latency monitor to check if there's a problem?

I haven't used a latency monitor however I just noticed from what you said that the CPU does tend to jump up to 30-40% from ~5% during these random freezes, and when I say freeze I mean nothing on the screen moves for around 1-2 seconds

Update: So, I think it's a hardware issue. More specifically I think it may be an issue with my WiFi adapter (Archer T6E A1300), the latest drivers that I got from the TP Link website show they haven't been updated since 2015, and as soon as I removed it the PC just seems a whole lot more stable. I'll have to try and get a new adapter to see if this was really the cause, any recommendations for one that's compatible with Windows 10?
