The AMD Driver Thread

I have said AOC monitor with a 5700XT. What issue you having?

Well with my vega 56 pulse, when i tried the new 2020 drivers after reboot the screen was almost dark at the windows loading screen with the animation i think ppl online said it was the contrast but i dunno it was just like really dark. Tried to install the next set of 2020 drivers i think and same issue so gave up on the new ones. Others are reporting issues similar on amds own forums i think i read.

They say you can turn the monitor off then back on and it fixes it, i never tried and nor want to as id be forced to do it each time i booted.

Went back to 19.10 driver which seems ok for now. I can wait its not like its magically gona make games quicker or something lol.

Id like to say i used ddu for it but i cant recall now. I know i did use that or amd clean up not long ago cos i lost all my saved profiles for underclocking grr.

Plus the new drivers are missing freesync range when you hover over something in display tab from old drivers, its not in new ones afaik. Nice to use when u use that cuc thing to change freesync ranges to check if it worked or not.

Jeesus people, you make it sound like you are gonna get an STD if something goes wrong :p . Just install the thing.. if its not working for your system go back.

Respectfully mate, I have wasted so many hours on the last 3 releases that could have been better spent gaming, I'm not taking chances with this or future releases unless theres a positive reception on the forums. 19.12 1 works seamlessly for me so sticking with that

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Yeah this.

Ive read countless times, installed the latest drivers, now this is broken, thats broken etc..., SO IVE ROLLED BACK TO MY PREVIOUS DRIVERS, THAT WERE WORKING PERFECTLY FINE

BIB - Then why did you update then ?

:p

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that each iteration brings with it some improvements in stability, performance and functionality. The release notes even allude to such things. At worse we expect things to be the same. And so we put our faith in AMD and 9 times out of 10 we get what we expected. However we've now had 4 consecutive versions which have made gaming worse (i'm being lazy and assuming 20.1.2 is no better than it's predecessors here). This really tests your loyalty and makes you want to have a bit of rant on the forums. And with a bit of luck, that collective noise will eventually feed back to AMD and drive them to get better. If we all just sat on safe versions and never took a gamble with updates, technology would barely improve

Gamers Nexus pushed this last week at CES with AMD contacts, if that doesnt work there is little hope.

Fingers crossed then. It's a shame as AMD had a pretty awesome year in 2019 and could have gone out on a high with this this new driver. Instead its tarnished their reputation at a time when they were just increasing consumer confidence and market share. It's in their commercial interest to fix this you'd hope

Edit: Just watched the GN video. Sounds like AMD are making the right noises. I did report my fault on the AMD issue reporting site so remain ever hopeful they might fix it before I move on from BL3
