The AMD Driver Thread

I had to roll back to 19. as I was getting frame drops when gaming - very noticeable frame drops actually, so very reluctant to move back now.
Me too. 6% drop in borderlands 3. I logged a report for it but have never seen any reference to such issues in the AMD driver notes and not seen much noise in the community. Maybe it's predominantly a Vega problem that isn't a priority to fix? Its reassuring to know I'm not alone though

Yeah I agree @nashathedog I would prefer keep features stagnant now and make them stable for the next 6 months.
I suppose that's one advantage of using a third-party app to overclock/undervolt: you don't end up with instability or losing control when AMD decides to remove or simplify features for the sake of it every year. I know for sure I'm not upgrading again from 19.7.1 unless I buy a new game that requires it.

Just went from 20.1.1 to 20.1.4, gained almost 1 whole frame in Borderlands 3!!!

It seems as though the digital lords are on my side at the moment, I'm sure something awful will happen to me in real life...
LOL. Did you see any change going from the 19 drivers to 20? None of the 20 drivers have performed as well as 19.12.1 in BL3 for me. In light of the vulnerabilities i am considering just biting the bullet now and making up the frame rate drop with Radeon Boost

Vega users havnt had a great time but I think it was the newer navi cards that seemed to have the issues going into this transition of newer driver. Out of caution, I didnt update as it has been ok on the 19 driver. I also noticed I can update both a BIOS version for the motherboard (increase stability) and a newer chipset driver. But as we all know if I change all three of them I could be in for a world of hurt lol.

Going from 19.12.3 to 20.1.1 gave me a healthy 4fps increase in Borderlands 3 (5fps if comparing 19.12.3 with 20.1.4).

Having tested all of the latest 2020 drivers except the newest 20.1.4 I don't think it's that bad for Vega users. Some people are even saying the drivers are working fine for them with Vega. I'm thinking about installing an old version of win 10 LTSB(1607) and see how the drivers perform there.

I don't seem to have had any issues at all since installed on my 56 flashed to 64 which should be a bit of an anomaly especially with the undervolt etc.

Good stable set of drivers :) for me at least

New drivers really are awful.

Gave the latest a go and it gave me horrid stuttering in gtfo.
Gonna go back to 19.12.1 and stick with them till they sort this new rubbish out.

Hi,

New to forum and AMD

After my 770 died I got the new sapphire rx 5600 xt.

I'm having a lot of strutting in game like rocksmith and homeworld plus stuttering when using chrome.

Starting to regret buying it now had no issues with my 770 until its end. :(

Are AMD always this bad with drivers?
