Im not sure whats going on but in drivers page it says this

https://www.amd.com/en/support/grap...eries/radeon-rx-vega-series/radeon-rx-vega-56

Revision Number
Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.5.1 Optional
File Size
414 MB
Release Date
6/10/2020

Which the date is from 2 days ago, and i'm sure 2.5.1 optional came out earlier. Not sure release notes have changed either.

So mistake, or maybe theres a new driver coming out soon and just got muddled up?

Latest WHQL drivers no good for me. Fan not ramping up unless using a custom profile. Idle temperatures very high. Also got stuck in a windows bootloop for 5 minutes or so. Downgraded back.

Did you install the drivers using the setup's "factory reset" option and "don't keep user settings" ?

Nope just updated through the Radeon sotware

I cannot wait to drop on a 2070S o 2080 deal lol

Well, why don't you just give that a try then? It's been covered to death already that installing over previous drivers will cause problems for some people on certain setups.

Have you done a scan with SFC? something might have corrupted that dll.

In anycase, I it were me that happened to I would uninstall the driver using the amd uninstall util. Run sfc /scannow with admin rights and then reinstall the latest drivers from a fresh download using factory reset and don't keep user settings ticked off.

Its been an ongoing issue fresh install or not, i'm sick of doing it... SFC did find something and repaired it tho.. Probably from the Last BSOD.

I understand the frustration I really do, I've had to deal with similar issues a good while back on an older system and I still think to this day that it's one of the reasons for me going bald early :p. However, I've never seen display drivers cause corruption. I've seen AVs poo themselves causing system issues. I've seen software for keyboard, mouse, and headsets or those cursed control centers from certain brands causing issues. If you want to get to the bottom of it, if that SFC repair doesn't help, I would start fresh. I personally would take the following steps:

1) Download a fresh iso of win 10 version 2004 from Microsoft. You can get to download the iso directly if you trick the site into thinking you are using an iPad. Otherwise, you have to use their tool to get it.
2) Make a bootable USB pen with it using etched or Rufus or something similar.
3) backup and reinstall windows, remember to delete all the partitions on the OS drive first (can be done from the setup).
4) Download only the most essential drivers and install those. That would be chipset on the mobo, GPU drivers, and soundcard.
5) Install your game launchers or whatever software triggering the issue and run for a few days in this setup testing stability.

Before you say it... I know... PITA all over. However, almost all my problems with Windows machines have been due to bloat or dodgy updates and yes it does seem like Radeon drivers are more sensitive than the competition. That said however, I had to run cleaned versions of the driver sets for my 1080 ti for it to work flawlessly. could have course just have been my particular setup.

I feel your pain and had enough... Recently upgraded my monitor and for some strange reason as soon as I enable Freesync my PC crashes down then reboots from the desktop, any application I open like Edge or another app I get a freeze and a system reboot.

Never happened on my other Monitor with Freesync enabled so enough is now enough now and ordering a 2070S tomorrow.

hhmmm.... its only since i turned VRR on in Windows Graphics settings that this has started to happen.

Without that setting on i get screen tearing in Youtube videos and just scrolling on forums.

@humbug - How odd and I've never enabled it nor had that issue, only via AMD driver software I've enabled Freesync etc. Had a 1660 Super well before this and never had any issues. Always liked AMD products but sorry I sold on my 1660 Super, will be returning back to the green team.

Turning Free Sync on in Drivers it only works in games, i have to turn it on in the Windows Graphic Settings for it to work on the Desktop, and its launching Youtube videos from Thunderbird Email links that sometimes causes the system to lock-up, screen goes black and then reboot or BSOD.

Believe it or not same issues as me with it enabled? If I switch off freesync via monitor and drivers, all is good?
