The AMD Driver Thread

Me too. I was playing pubg first game with my friends in a while and it locked up, restarted took ages to come back then it said it wasn't installed anymore. I was fuming. It's getting to the point in January I may have no choice to switch to team Green. I can't play like that, 338 pounds wasted at this point,

However it seems to always be when I use discord, if I don't use it I can play to my hearts content in single player games. It's mad. And incredibly annoying.

If its when using Discord, try disabling Discord overlay, and Discord hardware acceleration. Overlays from 3rd party applications are known for causing weird issues like this.

yeah that’s the one. How does it compare? Pretty much the same?

never used Shadowplay so can't really make the comparison, but it seems to work well for me. I have it saving 15 minutes of footage to system RAM, which I can dump to a drive with a keyboard shortcut. Can also use it like a regular recording software and enable and disable recording on a hotkey.

Thank you sonic I will definitely try that. Was incredibly annoying having to download 28 gb on a 50mb connection lol

Anyone noticed any performance difference in WoW Shadowlands prepatch with these drivers?

Not really, from what I can tell WoW really wants more CPU, RAM, and a fast internet connection. Oddly i've never been able to get DirectX11 mode stable on my 5700XT, yet DirectX12 works flawlessly. Drivers eh?

Hi, I don't usually mess around with the Radeon Driver software & haven't done in a while so I'm unsure on a few things, I decided to play around with crossfire until stock of the new cards becomes available so I added a second RX480 to my PC.

I tweaked the new 480 card so I have identical clocks on both but how do I get the Radeon driver software to automatically add the tweaked clocks when I start the PC?

Also do I need to do anything about the memory as one card is a 4gb model & one is an 8 gb model, I know they'll be recognised as only having 4gb's, that's fine but do I need to do anything regarding the memory sizes within the Radeon software?
Cheers.

PS: What about profiles, Are they still required and how do I get them & where do I put them? I saw the linked How To Make Sure Crossfire Is Working info but being a post made 7 years ago I'm guessing these things are done very differently nowadays.

The AMD driver is getting worse, I have been having random 2 seconds black screen since R9 Fury, now I am using vega56 with all new cpu/motherboard and it is still happening.
Before, it was only 2 seconds black screen, now sometimes after the black screen, everything becomes very blurry and making me very dizzy.
I have figured out by changing the screen refresh rate to another one and then changing it back can fix this bug, still, it is extremely annoying.
I have got 2 1440p 144hz freesync screen and all they say on the driver note is ask us not to use freesync, what a joke.

The release notes mention enhanced sync, which is not the same as freesync. You don't need to have both enabled at the same time.

sorry was a bit sleepy, I need enhanced sync for games like fifa.
If it is not on, for some reasons, when I am in the replay mode, fps drops to around 50 and becomes very laggy.

Maybe Freesync isn't working properly? Have you tried something like the AMD windmill demo to check that it is doing something?

Who reckons there launching the cards during the announcement like they will say at the end "now available to buy right now" and shops all over are unlocking the hidden pages.

Also i hope the 3070 killer card is priced 350 ish and with the cough exchange rate increase cough it will be about 440. So about 70 quid cheaper than the 3070 prices currently.

Still waiting for a gpu to have inbuilt in aa i.e a chip specific for aa so no performance loss with 2x msaa or somit on.

CPUs will be like four weeks from the announcement, so partly thinking GPUs might be around the same.

But I think they originally said the new GPUs would launch before the consoles, which is the 10th for XBox and 12th/19th for PS5, depending on your region.
So with their CPUs dropping on the 5th trying to squeeze GPU launches in there as well might be tough.
Either way, I can see AMD employees having a nice xmas this year. :D :D
