The AMD Driver Thread

I've got a Gigabyte 5700XT with a single AOC monitor - might try updating the monitor drivers and try again, purely because its the only thing I've not tried yet.

Currently running 21.2.3 absolutely fine, so will try again when the next one comes out - might just be an anomaly.

Just a quick update in case anyone else has the same issue - I managed to get the latest WHQL drivers installed eventually, although I did initially have the same issue.

What I had to do was use DDU to clear out my old drivers, boot to windows and stop windows update downloading drivers, then did a factory reset installation of the new AMD drivers which seemed to do the trick.

I'll keep an eye on things, but they are behaving so far

Does anyone have stutter/dropped frames with the last 2 releases from March? 21.2.3 was the last release that worked well for me. RX 6800 @ 4k, 120hz, freesync on a Samsung Qled TV.

Cheers

updating to 21.3.1 Caused game crashing for me in valhalla every few minutes and a few other games, using the built in AMD update with the factory restore. i had to DDU and reinstall 21.3.1 again to stop the crashing, not sure about .2 havnt tried it.

Wouldnt the drivers release notes say cyberpunk ray tracing is enabled in these drivers if it were these new drivers for it? I dont think it mentioned that game did it?

Are AMD drivers ok now? I tried updating mine last year but had problems with my PC not posting and kept having to turn it off by holding the power button. I'm using an RX 570.
Honestly, AMD drivers have been fine for a long long time. Sure there maybe some bugs now and again, but thats true of Nvidia also.

A quick test of the Ray Tracing on a Nitro+ 6800XT in Cyberpunk, which at least you can do fairly quickly without having to restart the game engine meant I dropped from a fairly steady 80fps at 1440 (ultra) to 25-30 with it enabled.

This was only using the Ray Tracing presets and without Fidelity FX turned on, though i heard it doesn’t do much anyway.

i’ll be leaving it off.

Maybe perf will improve with drivers since amd accelerators are still new they just need time to optimise to get the most out of em plus amds dlss might help too later. If not ah wekk, it still looks nice without the effects doesnt it?
