Hello All,

does anyone know why my fans on the 390 are always on? the GPU is currently sitting at 26C but all three fans are spinning. I thought that the fans would only come on when the card hits 60\65C.

power saving is on in the drivers settings.

Is it defiently the GPU causing it and not CPU or memory?

did you do a clean install? sometimes just installing over can bork something. Normally these days it doesn't but sometimes it can. I've had no real issues with the drivers. couple hitches when recording with ReLive in BF1 - but that's actually stated

Has there been any word on a fix for freesync not working in certain games?
It's not working in The Division for me and sounds like others have the same issue.

Question about Freesync..

Im looking at a new monitor that has Freesync but also a 4ms response time, does response time matter much if Freesync is in use? My current monitors have 2ms but are not Freesync monitors..

Just looking for a smooth gameplay experience without needing to use Dynamic Vsync in RadeonPro for DayZ SA, if i dont use RP i get stutters.

I've moved from a 2ms 60hz 1080p panel to a 5ms 75hz 1440 ultrawide freesync panel and I was concerned about the same thing before buying. Maybe I'm not as sensitive to ms as some but it's not been a problem for me thankfully.

Cheers for that, sounds promising then, my 2x Samsungs are 2ms/60hz but its just DayZ that i have stutter with since they updated to the new renderer.. RadeonPro has been a life safer for now but i'd rather not use it tbh.

I was considering the 32" version of that model as it's a cheap big screen monitor but learned that not all of them are Freesync. I think that once you go over 27" (black models) it loses the adaptive sync tech from the features, It also had some suppliers showing smaller ones with freesync (white model) and some without (black model) so It'll be worth double checking if they all (24") have freesync as it was all a bit confusing and I ended up scratching it off my final list because I got contradicting info from different supplier sources.

Ok cool cheers for that info, will research extra hard on it.. i only want the 24 inch black version so will just have to send it back if i find it doesnt have Freesync, will call OcUK to verify and also i only live 15 mins away from the OcUK shop

I originally installed over the old drivers, I have now re-installed cleaning first using DDU, I'm not sure what it could be, it may even be the game so I'm going to stress test, im assuming if its the GPU it should crash like the game.

What model do you have?

I thought they all had the zero spin tech but it may only be certain models like the Sapphire Nitro, which is yours?

Also, Are the fans set to auto?

I wouldn't recommend this model as it is not LFC compatible (http://www.amd.com/en-us/innovations/software-technologies/technologies-gaming/freesync)

To really enjoy Freesync to its best I strongly advise you to get a monitor which has Low Framerate Compensation (LFC) capability. Check the "Monitors" section on the AMD link for the list.

I dont think response time matters all that much. Usually means gray to gray response time. With higher response time you may expect ghosting? But honestly ive used 5ms monitors with no issue or very very hard to notice ghosting.

It's TVs you have to watch for they have bad response times which is why i avoid them for consoles.

Thanks for the reply, its the Nitro model I have.

I have just checked the settings for the fan speed and by default it was set to "on" and set to 50%.

I have turned this off (Auto) and its lowered it down to 20% and the fans are now off.

Thanks for that as I didn't change the settings so must have been a driver update that done it.

temps gone up to 32C so all is good

Good point but as i aim for 60fps throughout all gameplay by tweaking in-game settings, then this wouldnt matter right? The Samsung im looking at has a range of 48-72Hz and i hardly ever drop below 50fps in DayZ which is my main game the monitor is for.

Im also very limited for choice if i want LFS, probably will cost me more too.

Thanks for the heads up on the LFS though, i had totally forgot about that feature

I'm glad to see mine on the list with a yes for LFC, It also says my working range is from 30 when I thought it was 35 which is more good news
