The AMD Driver Thread

I'm using a 9070 XT with a 4K 144Hz screen over DisplayPort 1.4, at idle my memory clock is at 909MHz and while browsing the web it frequently goes up to 1538MHz. My power consumption is a bit lower though, at 909MHz it uses 22w and at 1538MHz it uses 26w. If I lock my computer and leave it idle for several minutes the memory clock goes down to 75 and the power consumption is 13w.
It should go down to around 13w without having to leave. Mine doesn't even do that haha, just stays stuck at 30w. I'm not too bothered to be honest, I know it's a bug though as if I set 60hz it drops to idle power almost straight away if doing nothing.
My XTX had a similar issue for a while until AMD fixed it.
There was a workaround where you set a manual display resolution and output. I cannot remember where I found it last time though.

@AMD_Vik The AMD Install Manager doesn't work.

New Drivers have been out for a few days and this thing still thinks i have the latest drivers installed, just now it did request a system reboot for new chip-set drivers, which i did and upon loading back in again it still says i have the old drivers installed.

yep noticved the same behaviour from the present major release through all of the minor releases, not being shown and having to manually update.

Its annoying because for it they removed the Check For new Drivers button in the Adrenalin software which did work.

Its almost like the AMD Install Manager needs a little "refresh" cog icon in the top-right, for those of us who might want to force it to go check. As you say, they've removed the other method / manual check.

Yeah that would do it, the adrenalin software didn't always realise there was a new driver available, or at least sometimes it would take a day or two, but hitting the check for drivers button usually woke it up to fetch your new driver for you.

This thing just sits there like a moody teenager insisting it will do its job when its ready, which it never is :D

optional drivers never show up for updates

so you do have the most UpToDate official driver

That makes sense, i never realised it was optional, the last WHQL was released 7 weeks ago, a lot of new games have come out in that time.

Just tested the new 25.4.1 drivers with AC Shadows and FSR4. They/it works great and at balanced 1440p I can crank details/RT to max.

Good work AMD, it’s good to see continued support.

Uninstall the AMD Install manager and it is back to what is was before.
Thanks, that's really useful information. Didn't realise you could go back to the recommended and optional drivers in the new Adrenalin.
Hopefully this will also stop it keep trying to get me into install some (presumably godawful) AI chat feature.

The idle power is weird, when I closed all other applications except monitoring software and locked my computer for over 30 minutes the average power draw was 7 watts, then when I came back to my computer it dropped and was between 3-5w. As soon as I open Firefox the memory clock fluctuates between 909/1538MHz and power consumption is anywhere between 22-31w, but with Chrome the memory clock and power consumption stay low.

New Driver is not so good for my 7900xtx... Getting seriously bad frame drops in WoW and a couple of games.

EDIT: Went back to 25.3.1 and everything is smooth again and I made sure that 25.4.1 was installed after DDU.
