While AMD driver are apparently good I don't believe there's HDMI 2.1 support.
I play a lot of GamePass games currently, which I don't work on Linux.it's coming along

i personally use fedora workstation after multi booting that with win10 /11 for years. fully switched over at some point last year.
you might be surprised at how smooth things can be on a linux desktop, though it helps to be open to learning new ways of getting things done, like the repository paradigm, having drivers included with the OS etc.
you absolutely will find access to some big multiplayer games as an issue. it's unlikely you'll see access to fortnite, call of duty, and battlefield (even though it was accessible in the past when they used EAC).
i gave up destiny 2, pubg, apex (even though they also originally supported play through proton) etc to switch, and i haven't missed them.
next fest is on yet again, and i don't even think about the OS i'm using as i haphazardly grab a bunch of demos to check out.
we're not allowed to support this directly; we attempted to in the past and were shot down by the HDMI forum.I play a lot of GamePass games currently, which I don't work on Linux.
But to keep on topic, do you mean that the AMD linux drivers might soon support HDMI 2.1?
I'm not overly attached to HDMI, it's just that monitor manufacturers seem to like them far more than DisplayPort as they seem to give us 1 DisplayPort and 2 or 3 HDMI (while GPU manufacturers seem to go the opposite).we're not allowed to support this directly; we attempted to in the past and were shot down by the HDMI forum.
this separate module may provide support that circumvents that imposition.
yeah i don't use it on desktops and like to avoid it in general. been eyeing up a massive pc monitor to replace the tv for the living room htpcI'm not overly attached to HDMI, it's just that monitor manufacturers seem to like them far more than DisplayPort as they seem to give us 1 DisplayPort and 2 or 3 HDMI (while GPU manufacturers seem to go the opposite).
