My GPU-Z just reads: atiumdag 13.251.0.0 / Win8 64

It is missing the text: (Catalyst 13.11)

dunno - weird. Anyway, will test them tomorrow. I was getting red screen of death in BF4 tonight, never seen it on my system before (been playing since release date). I am running fairly brutal overclocks though so no doubt is that ;)

EDIT: I uninstalled the driver and removed any remaining ATI/AMD folders and registry entries. This is how I always remove AMD drivers

if you installed fresh like you did then the catalyst version label is missing with this driver.
it says 13.11 for those that didn't fully erase before installing new

I've had that red screen of death, like you said only when overclocking. At stock settings BF4 has never crashed, not even once. I kinds feel sorry for Dice lol, the game is totally stable. I think a lot of the problems is people running weaker hardware that is pushed to it's limits, and decent hardware with overclocks that BF4 just pushes hardware to far and crash.. On the consoles it seems people with bad connections are crashing out, again not really Dice's fault, although in some cases their may be other reasons for crashing, a lot of it seems to not be in Dice's control.. Great game but getting loads of flack atm..

Agreed 100% I have only ever crashed first two weeks when the servers were going down all the time.

Yeah agreed, I think dice are getting a ridiculous amount of flak for what I think is the best online fps I have ever played and I find the game pretty stable - it's just recently I have been pushing to see how far my 2500k and 290x will go :p I shall run the 290x at stock to see if it is my recent 4.9ghz cpu overclock causing it, adjusting all the various voltages and llc settings seems to be an endless cycle lol!

Regarding those drivers, tweet from catalyst creator

"AMD Catalyst 13.12 WHQL for Windows and Linux drivers are now available - basically they're the WHQL version of the 13.11 Beta V9.5 drivers"

So i'd expect a new beta driver soonish i guess.

Red screen in Windows 8 means lack of vcore for cpu, dram or vccio. Not gpu related.

Thanks for the heads up dude, I have never touched the dram or vccio voltage so will look into it. I also have LLC settings at extreme and I understand it might be advisable to ease up on the LLC and increase the core voltage instead. I hit around 1.452 peak core voltage in prime at 63 degrees or so.

In my experience adding more 2-4 notches of dram voltage should fix it.

Ok, will try 1.60v tonight. My ram is rated at 1.50v and not overclocked (although I appreciate that running the cpu at 4.9GHz must put a significant strain on the ram to run at it's rated specs).

I have 2 7950 boosts (ice q) and they can never wake up from sleep. I have sleep turned off aswell but it still goes into it after a while of not moving the mouse etc.

Is there a way to sort this?

It never happened with my 570SLI or GTX 460 so this is what leads me to believe its these cards.

Guru made an interesting statement on Black Screen.

We do not recommend you to overclock with the Catalyst Control panel. We tried and failed miserably as once the OC is applied, it will be reinstated during Windows boot-up. In our case the overclock resulted into a black screen crash, and with each boot-up, the OC applied itself again before we could reach the control panel to enable default. In the end we ended up reinstalling an OS backup image as even a System Restore would not get us out of this little black hole.

In short, use something like Afterburner or a tool of your preference.

Try setting the devices to not allow Windows to turn them off?
