shankly1985 i tried EVERYTHING including overdrive itself.
Clean install with DDU in safe mode. No problem like that on 12.13 whql.

Just reinstalled everything with nly drivers and MSI AB and DOES NOT WORK.

Must say, very happy so far

Just played a round on bf4 on gulf, overall very good had two very small spikes but other than that it was like butter best its ever been...
 
OK, so AMD are dropping the ball dramatically lately with these utter ***** drivers.

Powertune has zero effect and instead of maintaining 1150 core clock with +50mV my R9 290X throttles to ~940MHz. When I go back to 13.12 powertune works perfectly again and 1150 core at all times.

The card actually runs faster at stock settings. :confused:

I think it's time to cut my losses on AMD and become a 100% Nvidia convert. Kinda getting sick of the poor excuses and amateurish execution at almost every turn.
 
Yea Idk if it's thief or these drivers but performance is nowhere near where it should be with this drivers that supposedly revolve around thief. This is sad. Back to back BETA drivers that aren't even worth using. The last Betas decreased perfomance in almost all my games so I had to go back to December drivers...

When will they release an actual fully functioning driver?
 
Mmm, this isn't looking promising, getting massive CPU spikes thus giving massive GPU spikes and jerking... will go on other maps, but Shanghai on 14.2 is looking messy on Mantle 4GPU's. Afterburner won't workwith Mantle so, can't see GPU utilization... and BF4 fps won't show either... so, back to FRAPS... see what that says..

Not just that but voltages are sticking at 1.13 with these drivers, previous 13's are doing 1.2V!

Plus line/text corruption on the right hand side in ocuk forums, should've stuck with Nvidia seriously :mad:. I've had better Nvidia Alpha drivers than this!
 
Mine's just gone to 1.175V. Confirmed!

Confirmed by the temp rise from 1.15 to 1.175 and back again. Seems some software is mis-reading.

Yeah it is annoying when some people are having no problems. Always makes me think it's going to take a long time for a fix in those situations. I can't even get the whql drivers to work.

I've not tried these yet since I'm not at my pc but I'm not optimistic.
 
Anyone know what causes the screen to keep flicking? As if it's changing clocks, it did it in Skyrim and it's doing it on occasion during Desktop.

(Hardware Acceleration is OFF )
 
I am startink to think i should have gotten myself a 780 instead of 290x.
I was like cool card limited BF4 edition and will have mantle and true audio.

Well atm we got pathetic drivers for mantle and no game or drivers for True audio.
And 3 weeks later they gave BF4 to like ALL R9 cards.

And i dont mine coins anyhow so.... at lest i could have had physx **** that is in games. And no disappointment every driver/game release.


Neil79 have a look if your memory clock is not jumping up and down on desktop when you are moving mouse.
 
Nope doesn't seem to be!

Anyway I'm going back to the officials, both beta's have been so far really awful and dx performance is either worse or the same in some aspects. Officials work fine!

Yes I know it's a beta driver, but these feel like Alpha
 
Jesus, now hanging on C++ install, what the hell is wrong with these 14.2's... They just will NOT complete a full install no matter what I do...
 
Well all of this is not very encouraging, had my 290 a fair wee while now and have stuck with 13.12 WHQL while Amd sort out their drivers for Mantle etc, wasn't too bothered initially as I don't play BF4 BUT......will have Thief so get your finger out AMD and sort all these issues, getting tiresome. :mad:
 
Setting " Unofficial overclocking - Without Powerplay support " and setting it to 2D clocks in desktop has fixed the screen flick when it changes to 2D-3D-2D ;) (Firefox Hardware Acceleration was off)

Ltmatt is that ok to do that?
