**THE AMD DRIVERS THREAD**

Ok, bit the bullet and got Wolfenstein: New Order last night. But when I tried to launch the game it went to a black screen, Task Manager said it wasn't responding. Did a bit of Google searching and it seems the game doesn't like playing with the 13.12 Cat drivers which I'm running my R7850 Twin Frozr under. So going on the recommendations I found to resolve this I downloaded the 14.4's. During the install of the drivers it asked if I wanted to install the 'AMD Gaming Evolved' app. I did so and its popped up doing its thing but is it bloatware or is it worth keeping?

Worth keeping in my opinion, but your mileage may vary.

Bloatware....uninstall it :p:D

I found it to be no use whatsoever for myself, game optimisation was terrible, it will take you years of collecting points to get anything worthwhile. It lacks features like Nvidia Shadowplay.

If you like your game time tracked then use it.

For some reason, every time I start the app it says 'Lets get started' and it downloads the detection file, rescans my system for hardware and appears to begin completely from scratch each and every time. Is that how it normally works? How do you uninstall it? Can't see it mentioned anywhere in Windows 'Programs and Features' list?

I hope that's the feature they can add. That's the one i really want.

I've won a few free games from there, so if you like free games then its worth having. Its getting more popular now though so the chances of winning are getting smaller.

8 Bronze tickets given away per day.
75 Silver tickets per week.
Not sure how many Gold tickets.
1 R9 270X Tri X per month 29% discount + 1 normal R9 270X giveaway per month.

Those are sweepstakes anyway. Theres other stuff as well but i tend to focus on the above with my points. I have it installed on the mrs pc as well collecting points to double my chances. :D

Gotta be in it to win it as they say. :D

Thanks for the info chaps, think I'm going to bin it for now though. For anyone else wondering where it is in the 'Programs and Features' uninstall list it goes under the name of Raptr and not 'Gaming Evolved' or anything similar. ;)

Oh, and almost forgot - switching from 13.12 to 14.4 cured my Wolfenstein black screen launching issues. :)

Yeah its not everyones cup of tea. The less of you using it, the more free games for me.

I've configured mine so it never bothers me, just sits in the background acquiring points every time i play a game.

I had it on my PC for a few hours, until in press a key by accident while playing versus on L4D 2 and I could not get rid of it. I did control, Alt and delete in the end to shut it down, by the time I got back in game I was dead :(

So I uninstalled it :D

Right so I tried it out and uninstalled it immediately. I was Elite on al the games I play lol, and I was ranked #1 in most of them. :D:D

Its so buggy imo. I had 800 points, and I think I earned a 100 more. I went to connect to my (fake) facebook account, and I kept getting a white screen. Then I went to start my first twitch stream, had it on for 1 minute, but I got no free RP.

At around 900 RP I am too far off to get anything useful. DiRT 3 would have been a good free game, but I can't, for the life of me, get any mor epoints. i don't know how. I started up CS:GO but I got no points :confused:

I have had ati graphics cards for years and never botherd messing with the Video setting in CCC.

What I am wondering is does anyone here enable the Video Quality settings such as Edge-enhancement, De-noise, Mosquito Noise Reduction etc etc?

I just tend to install latest CCC and leave settings on default for everything (unless I need to make an application setting for an old game or something). Been out of touch with this stuff for some years now and I am wondering what you lot are doing? Maybe I am missing a trick :p

Disable them all. They're much like the settings on a shiny new plasma TV that should always be turned off when you first get it.

Most of us just leave it all on default.

Granted, not a massive improvement but I thought I would share my Unigine Heaven 4.0 results going from 13.12 to 14.4 with my 7990 (see spec in sig).

13.12

FPS: 69.1
Score: 1741
Min FPS: 23.5
Max FPS: 154.7

14.4

FPS: 69.9
Score: 1762
Min FPS: 24.1
Max FPS: 159.6

Since 13.10 Beta 2 I have had a 10% improvement in this benchmark
