had some weird issues on my setup

7990 on 14.6

16:9 - 21:9 - 16:9

you tube on screen 3 full screen
exit a game on screen 1 or open another browser tab which has flash
screen 3 goes all white have to close chrome to fix :(

I briefly had an issue where the resolution looked really low when playing a youtube video. Also, there was another instance of a video player being corrupted too, like the window being resized and shaped differently. Seems to have sorted itself out for now.

Edit 1 : the temperature recording on Afterburner and CCC reads 0C. I might jump back to 13.12.

Edit 2 : no idea why, but the temps are now being reported.

Out of interest, am I right in saying that the sequence of drivers goes : 13.12, 14.4 then 14.6 beta?

They say that patience is virtue, but still no news on "4K AMD 60Hz front "..
I am running 780Ti now but SLI would be better of course. Now comes the question if there will be any "inf" or "hotfix " from AMD . 4Gb VRAM are better than 3Gb VRAM ..

Seriously thinking about selling my 290 as I don't have the time for all this messing around with drivers. I think all was well before 14.4 (Tomb Raider and Far Cry 3 looked great) then I got a bunch of conflicts and issues, tried a few reinstallations (didn't fix anything) so I stuck my old GTX580 in there as I needed to get some stuff done urgently on the PC before I went on holiday. Realised yesterday that I'm still using my old card so put the 290 back in, fresh install etc. and 14.4 still doesn't seem to like my card/system. Can't install 14.6 because I'm Windows 8? Tried going back to 13.12 but get a package installation error. After a couple of wasted hours put the GTX 580 back in - as ever 100% solid and no driver issues!

Did you use DDU to unistal the 580 first?

Sounds like you have Nvidia Driver fragments all over the OS interfering with the Driver instillation.

I did a full uninstall of the GTX 580 before installing the 290. I can't remember the exact dates, but it worked fine for a couple of months and at least one driver update through Catalyst before things went wrong. I’ve followed a few trouble shooting guides (and found lots of threads with people reporting problems following AMD driver updates) and I find myself wishing for the simple, stable days of being on the green team.

If I can summon the enthusiasm I may give the 290 one last go – is there a definitive guide for getting one working on Windows 8 with 14.4?

One thought I did have (whilst grasping for a solution) is whether there could be a particular issue with the AMD audio and my Sound Blaster Z and if so what a workaround might be - aside from removing the sound card?

I'd start from scratch by doing an uninstall of AMD and NVidia drivers using DDU in Safe Mode, and then doing a fresh install of 14.4. I doubt your problems are anything to do with the Soundblaster card, as I have run 7970CF alongside my SB for over 12 Months without issue.

As a side note, any particular reason you have gone to Win 8.1? I've found it to run great on my rig.

Presumably you mean "NOT gone to Win 8.1"?

I suppose I don't have any problems with Win 8 and there were reports of some issues when they first rolled out the upgrade. If everyone is happy with Win 8.1 now I suppose I could do that as well.

There might be a new AMD Beta driver this week, as Sniper Elite V3 and Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare both launch friday.

Actually it appears 14.6 Beta already has profiles for Sniper Elite V3 and Plants Vs Zombies, so maybe there won't be.

So much for the AMD's support on 4K@ 60 Hz - only one man is trying to help , AMD does 0

Been reading about this and I dont think its AMD's fault. Nvidia owners have also reported similiar issues. It seems some of the monitor manufacturers (eg AOC) have cut corners when adhering to certain standards and its enough for some GPU's to throw a wobbly probably because they have strict compliance.

It also seems to show why AMD appear to be doing nothing about it (although there is one twitter AMD employee feed that people are keeping an eye on) as they probably can't or dont feel its their issue to sort out.

One thing is for certain the blame game sure is kicking of over this issue. I wonder who will take the hit on this monitor or graphic card manufacturers.

That is not true, check up overclock.net threads about AOC, ASUS monitors. I got 0 dead pixels, monitor runs great and on my spare GTX 780TI I had 0 problems.
Check it up and pls do not apologize for the company that advertised something that did not fulfill.

Nvida users had had some flickering but 0 probems running 4K @60Hz. I have tried today with the new INF from AOC
and the nex Lenovo cable- FLICKERING.

That s crap what they re doing..

Going Nvidia, pity that Titan Black is so expensive. Well , 290s are for sale now....

•Running Watch Dogs with a R9 280X CrossFire configuration may result in the application running in CrossFire software compositing mode

Can anyone tell me what the above means please?

Seems to use both cards according to afterburner so xfire is working.
