*Sigh*

Thought I'd give this a go as it seems newer but I am still getting the exact same issue with 14.6...

All installs fine, screen looks good. Do the reboot after installation and just after the windows loading screen I get a black screen and can only see my mouse cursor. This would normally be the screen where I would enter my password.

Does anyone please have any ideas?

if it's windows 8.1, do you have a few different monitors? or even plugged into an AV receiver/amp by hdmi?

Anyone having issues with bf4 and hardline with the new drivers? Seems to load in slow motion with it taking an age to get into a game.

Had that issue once myself after a driver install (Win7). Just pressed Enter and it logged into one of the user accounts, logged out and the normal screen was back. Never happened after that very first boot with the new driver installed.

If you can, try this.

Thanks all, yes it's windows 8.1 and on a single 1080p monitor.

well it seems to be working now, however I think the issue is actually within MSI afterburner.

It works great, on various reboots but if I have "Extend official overclocking limits" ticked this is where I get the issue.

Bit of a pain!

Anyone connecting their PC to a receiver using the newest drivers can you confirm if it all functions correctly or do you have sound/receiver issues?

Cheers.

Bit of a pain allright, but at least you know what the problem is.

is SLI just as pointless as crossfire these days for games?

Seems every new game has issues or just doesn't work in crossfire.
Even when they bring out crossfire profiles it still rarely works half the time.

Who told you it was pointless and why else wound you get crossfire other than for games lol ?

Depends on what you're wanting to play and at what resolution. For anything over 1080p two cards and more is essential. See how you get on at 1600p / 4k with one 290!

I've hardly has any issues with Crossfire or SLi in recent times.

No one told me its pointless... I have two cards and its my own experience from all the games im playing lately hardly working with crossfire.

Watchdogs = a stuttery mess and even though it shows more fps it feels like less and it stutters like crazy still.

Grid Autosport...they just brought out a crossfire profile with the new drivers and the result = exact same fps as single card but with crazy stuttering so having to run single card again.

Skyrim with ENB you get a boost with fps but screen flickers like crazy and its all messed up.

Assetto Corsa - Crossfire works great with HDR off but with HDR on its a flickering mess.

Next car game = Same fps as single card but with massive stutters so unplayable with crossfire yet again.
Pretty much all the games im enjoying at the moment hardly work on crossfire apart from Wildstar so yes to me that's very pointless.

Sure lots of games do work fine with crossfire but the majority of ones im playing lately have issues and I end up just using a single card which is a waste when you've bought two.

I'm curious if SLI has as many issues.

Do you have any first hand experience.

I find Crossfire and SLI work very well these days.

Watch Dogs doesn't stutter on my 8GB Vapor-X cards :p

I don't get any stutter on my green or red cards even with everything maxed out.:p

Seems to me the set up of crossfire is as important too. I'm just about to start playing around with it. Any advice? I'm assuming uninstall drivers add cards boot up, install new drivers, cap things and away you go?

You can probably tell I haven't researched it yet!

Don't need CAPs anymore, other than that you're spot on. I've found Crossfire to be pretty much plug and play these days, but that could be because I'm too tight to buy games at launch anymore and tend to get them half price and a month or two down the line - could be I've simply been giving any new game issues times to get resolved?

I've been running Crossfire for a good few years now and couldn't go back - one card just looks so lonely through the case window! :D

I know a lot of games work fine but most of the ones I'm playing these days have issues like I listed. Bringing out a crossfire profile and the game gives the same fps as single but introduces stuttering isn't great lol. With watchdogs I didn't so much mean stuttering but more it feels less smooth than running on a single 290 even though it's higher fps.

Are you sure the issue is crossfire? Could something else in your system cause issues like the cpu, motherboard or RAM?
