I know that WoW is heavily reliant on your CPU, I was just wondering if crossfire performance has improved any I know it has always been a bit pants with this game.

crossfire always been bad for wow, wont change either. Even on my i52500k @ 4.5 with a 7970 I used to get framedrops in heavy raids to about 40. Just the way the game is (old game )

Had a quick play with this last night and I've rolled back to the last beta for the moment. Played Just Cause 2, Sleeping Dogs, and Modern Warfare 3, and in each case I was limited to 30FPS (and huge amounts of tearing & jerkiness) more often that not. Some times it even started the game fine (JC2 at 70-120FPS for example), then Alt+Tabbed out, come back and the game was locked at 30FPS and unplayable until I closed the game and re-opened it.

I know as I'm multi-screen gaming this driver was never intended to give me frame rate pacing, but it's simply not looking usable on my system. I will re-install later and have a more in depth play over the weekend, but I had to roll back drivers for today so my kid has a working PC to play on while I'm at work.

13.8 doesnt work for me either. Tried several uninstalls and reinstalls including driver sweeping and the latency in BF3 which is the game where i need my crossfire is horrible. Sadly.. Actually now according to PerfoverLay in BF3 my 2x7950 is bottlenecking my 8350 @4ghz. Never thought i would see the day when that was happening.

The last 2 paragraphs are rather damning. I remember when "mikroruckler" was first discovered, I think AMD should have done something about it then. Their engineers must have known about it.

you seriously believe engineers plays games?
:p
even dice who make the battlefield series pretty much are owned by noobs when they play.

good amd is getting things going and improve, we all benefit.
still using single cards as its enough for my platform.

Here is a strange one...

Since installing this latest driver I have noticed on benchmark testing my overclocks are not recognised (Heaven benchmark 4.0, valley benchmark 1.0 etc)

My msi afterburner shows the correct settings but they do not show up in benchmarking.

Has anyone else noticed this? I wonder if this driver has bugged the msi afterburner?

Has anyone else tried benchmarking with the latest driver? Does anyone know what the problem I am experiencing could be? I have tried several reboots.

The benchmarking programs all suffer some stutter now also.

Have you checked max clocks in gpuz monitor to see if they are being applied?

Edit: may be related to ulps again, iirc it played havoc with my overclocks.

the irony is that the microstutter issue has damaged my trust in AMD.
especially now we know that the headline FPS figures were an illusion and what we thought we were seeing was real afterall (ie, not very good framerates)
But my next purchase will almost certainly be another amd 7970

I have a watercooled crossfire setup and the easiest upgrade for me is to add another watercooled 7970 when the need arises. if i switch to nvidia now i have to ditch a load of stuff, including custom painted backplates, put the stock coolers back on, and sell loads of stuff, then do it all again with at least 2 nvidia cards.

but long term i will probs ditch amd at my next big upgrade, cos i don't trust them to support their product properly

I think those last 2 paragraphs should not even have been included. There is a lot of speculation which is irrelevant and could quite easily be said of NVidia as well.

All they should have had in conclusion is if the new driver works or not and the answer to that is yes it does work.

This is my experiance with these new drivers so far....

Crysis 3 = omg :D before i used to get tons of stuttering..when you would get to a specific area and the fps would just dip to under 5 then fly back up again but now with these i get none of that. Its a much smoother experiance and i was even able to turn the details up to very high instead of high and it still feels completely smooth.

Max payne 3 = I seem to be getting more FPS and a smoother experiance in this which is great but iv noticed an issue occasionally where if i tab out of the game then go back in my fps will suddenly be stuck really low then after a little time would go back up to normal...I don't recall having this issue before.

Bioshock Infinate = no more microstuttering for me and if there is its not really anything you would notice.
A much more enjoyable experiance with crossfire now.

There's still bugs and room for improvement but these are a great start.

Glad its working out for you with the new driver set. Just makes me Wonder why it isnt like this for everyone. Perhaps its OS related? what OS are you using?
