Been reading about this and I dont think its AMD's fault. Nvidia owners have also reported similiar issues. It seems some of the monitor manufacturers (eg AOC) have cut corners when adhering to certain standards and its enough for some GPU's to throw a wobbly probably because they have strict compliance.

It also seems to show why AMD appear to be doing nothing about it (although there is one twitter AMD employee feed that people are keeping an eye on) as they probably can't or dont feel its their issue to sort out.

I recall them doing something similar regarding frame-pacing too didn't they? (Was a long time ago though, so might be remembering wrong)

I've been dealing with Shane who is technology manager in Toronto. Trying to create a quick fix by modifying the timings in the inf file for the AOC panel. So far it's been unsuccessful. Personally because of how inconsistent the results are on various cards, I think it's a signal issue with them.

Most probably YES ;) sounds logical / soma AMD cards run OK , but not many . Nvidia is fine , though

New Official AMD drivers. Updated version of 14.6, worth upgrading. This should become a WHQL driver soon.

*Sigh*

Thought I'd give this a go as it seems newer but I am still getting the exact same issue with 14.6...

All installs fine, screen looks good. Do the reboot after installation and just after the windows loading screen I get a black screen and can only see my mouse cursor. This would normally be the screen where I would enter my password.

Does anyone please have any ideas?

Win 8.1?

I had that once, after the install reboot, all i did was hit return to wake it up and the login screen appeared.

It hasn't done it since.

Had that issue once myself after a driver install (Win7). Just pressed Enter and it logged into one of the user accounts, logged out and the normal screen was back. Never happened after that very first boot with the new driver installed.

I see a pattern here :D
