*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

As does the 5070 Ti, it can't be more than 15% better because if it is then it will have a smaller gap to the 5080 than the 4070 Ti had to the 4080, same with the 5070 ecte...

The 5080 is 15% better than the 4080.

Nvidia no longer sell performance, they sell features, tech jurnoes constantly waxing lyrical about the added value of DLSS its how we have been conditioned, yes Nvidia 'encouraged' that but the point is they were being conditioned to normalise this and had no flipping clue they are being manipulated.

Its that same 'programming' that makes it near impossible for AMD to do anything right and they keep learning this, even the 4070 was still £600+ at the time of 7800 XT review with a sub £500 price, ignoring the 16% faster 12GB £400 more expensive 4070 Ti HUB spent most of the review hating on it for its stupid name, didn't say anything about its comparison to the 4070 Ti or the 6700 XT that it replaced by price bracket and instead compared it to used 6800 XT's on FlyBay as a price comparison, ridiculous and cynically disingenuous, and their review was one of the better ones....

What do we think this teaches AMD after taking the deserved 7900 XT criticism and actually trying to make up for it?
This is why AMD are infuriating. The card is clearly a 7700xt and 7800xt in name only. I have a 7800xt named as a 7900xt. If AMD went with 7700xt the journo's would have compared it to last gen mid range along with the 4070.

I didn’t fall for the hate on the 7800xt and looked at performance vs the nearest competitor and thought it was bang on for price/performance. I looked back at a receipt from January 2021, for a quickly returned (due to buyers remorse) of a £1200 6900xt mba from a competitor and had a warm feeling of the £800 I saved by getting the same performance (within 2%) for £400 in the 7800xt 2.5 years later.

With the 9070 non xt it needs to be max £500 and offer at least 30% performance gain over the 7800xt to be a winner really.

Then 9070 XT needs to be max £599 to offer near XTX levels of raster performance.

:)

Same, with an easy daily overclock its basically a >4070 Ti, no one, not one of them made this point but 3 minutes of looking beyond all the garbage this was plainly obvious and with that at £400 less and with 4GB more VRam it wasn't a difficult choice.

The other thing is this, in RT the 4070 is only significantly faster if you turn the RT settings up so high it becomes unplayable on the 4070, if you use settings that the 4070 can manage guess what... with those same settings its little if any faster with RT than the 7800 XT.
Just another one of those things that i find incredibly misleading when they use these settings that make the 4070 unusable just to say its 35% faster than the 7800 XT, at 28 FPS.... if what you're looking for is 60 FPS both the 4070 and 7800 XT achieve that at those RT settings.

So how is the 4070 worth £100 more with all that in mind? Better image quality with DLSS than FSR..... Yes, you're right, you pay that then, i'm not.

I did notice for the best part of 2024 the boilerplate content from them channels was parroted "but if you want RT then go for the nvidia card". Its just pure lazy verbatim.

Like i said if you want to use RT with 4070 at a level where its actually useable its not much better than the 7800 XT.
150 subscriber Youtube channels are capable of enough critical thinking to realise this and show you but those with millions of subscribers apparently aren't?

Yeah, this was idiotic and all it did was give the clowns ammunition.

Which is the reason why AMD won’t be successful with such a monopoly that Nvidia commands.

The only way the 9070 series will disrupt the market and make people switch is ridiculously stupidly low prices vs Nvidia ie £399 for 9070 and £499 for the 9070XT which AMD marketing will never allow to happen.

I think I’m just to to keep my 7800xt till a game breaks it ie GTA6! There’s nothing worth bothering to upgrade to without losing a tonne of dosh, and gaining maybe 30% performance (9070 non xt) which an overclocked 7800xt would claw back about 10% making the gain of 20% not worth it.

We all want cheap GPU's but we also have to be reasonable and allow it to be worth it for AMD so they continue to fight.

The 7900 XT thing was stupid, they got a lot of flack for that and deservedly so, the 7800 XT to me looked like "yeah ok my bad, here is our apology" its a damned good GPU for a good price and they still got _____ for it only this time there was no real reason to give them _____ for it so like clowns they focused the hate on things that didn't matter a bugger to the product as a product.

When AMD try, especially when its obvious they are trying they need to get the right feedback for that or its all pointless, we are only hurting ourselves, it doesn't matter to AMD as much as some of these clowns seem to think it does, AMD can't make the stuff they do turn a healthy profit on fast enough, i have no doubt Radeon already looks like a problem to them that is easily solved.

y'all wanna sod off posting about how clever you all were buying 7800xt's - i wanna know how much the bloody 9070's are, not how super duper chuffed someone is with their current card. thread should be locked till official info appears, it's just a bunch of hens clucking currently. :p

p.s. - i'm having a joke before someone gets all worked up.

The farce is twofold:
1) 40 series people (generally) either mocking or slightly upset depending on their angle; that we have now had terrible progression but still high prices (no covid, no mining, no shipping hike excuses anymore)

2) The lower end of the sku's for both vendors cant quite punch out the performance for top RT visuals and we are back to the old point that most folk will just use them traditionally. However as these influencers and npc's discuss with others its made out like these extra features are so needed.

People have been snapping up the 7900XTX as its around £800, has 24GB VRAM and performs close to the 5080. So obviously RT isn't quite that important if this is being observed...

We all know AMD will not be discounting this new gen but it is what it is!

But did you know I'm really happy with my 7800XT?

These rumour threads annoy me but I just can't not read them :D
