*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Or try to get away with selling it higher while Nvidia don't have the stock and when they do lower the price?
oh absolutely, there's no way amd can ask 699 and expect them to sell - but it wouldn't surprise me.

Like they did last time and once Nvidia supply improved so their street prices dropped,AMD sales share collapsed.

At this point deals will also turn up on Nvidia cards so my chance of ending up with yet another Nvidia card now increases a lot.

Plus all the negative reviews will be what most people will find.

The whole massive PCBs and coolers, triple power connectors, etc never boded well IMHO.

85% of gamers buy GPU's under $700.. lmao

Should be under $500.. I think the hype train is about to crash :(

Do they not? I've not totted up anything like the Steam Hardware Survey but at first glance it does seem to be dominated by sub £550 cards.

The first GPU over $700 in the Steam Survey list is 24th.. (this list is from Jan 2025)

If AMD have stated what they have supposed to have stated then where the **** are they getting their stats from?

I'm sure that top 23 make up more than 85% which are mostly under $500, excluding the 3080 MSRP @ $649.

Think Im gona sleep until Friday :(

i'll see your bet and raise you my vega64 that ain't going to be going anywhere if amd price these as they normally do. :p
Aaahhhh the Vega 64 I loved that card. Tweakers paradise. Put mine under water as the reference cooler sounded like a jet engine taking off even with under volting. Hopefully the new cards will be equally tweakable

Is the approximately lunch time on Friday for the announcement?
Friday at 8am US EST which is 1pm in the UK.
The announcement will be on https://www.youtube.com/@Gaming-AMD

8am seems quite early to me. Usually tech announcements start at 10am. This might be pre-recorded? Which could suggest that if AMD really weren't sure what they should price the cards for, they would have a live announcement, to give them as much time as possible to decide on a price.

If 85% of people buy cards <$700 and AMD launch at $699, then per that very statistic, most of the 9070 XT product range would be outside of the budgets of 85% of potential customers...

I didn't say the 4080 had discounts, I said the 4080 super did, please read what I say instead of going your usual way with walls of text going off on tangents.
Can you link any official price drops by NVIDIA for 4080S? No? I thought so. Retail discounts to move stock aren't NVIDIA dropping prices. Apples vs oranges.
Retailer prices did move with availability, you can't keep scalping a product with hundreds added on once stock is sitting there. 4080 Super hasn't been affected much by the AI market due to its VRAM.
You also can't confuse retailers scalping with AIB pricing. Again, apples vs oranges. Many of the current average high prices are visible on AIB websites as well, as a confirmation that this IS the price, not just retailers scalping. And since NVIDIA won't drop their pricies, AIB have no reason to drop them either.
The question to you is pretty simple really, if you think prices are only going to go up from here
On every new coming generation, so far, yes. Or, if you prefer supermarket approach - price doesn't change but you get less of a product you would otherwise (e.g. 5080 is barely 5070 by own NVIDIA's approach, just named 5080 and sold for such price).
However, since the main point here is AMD, here's a bucket of cold water: https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-teases-radeon-rx-9070-focusing-on-sub-700-price-point - that doesn't spark me with a confidence but also wouldn't surprise me to see 9070XT for $699, as I said earlier. They also know how NVIDIA ticks and adjust accordingly, but it is a short-sighted approach. I suppose we'll know for sure in the next few days.

if that is the price, they'll add a package of games and claim the value is ~150 quid. folk will sell their game keys for a few quid and make about 60 quid back and think they've 'won' - this is the way.
Don't forget publisher push hard for AAA games to be $100 as base price ASAP (as various sources suggest) - add 2 games and claim it's $200 less price! ;)

Isn't below $500 also below $700? :) Never forget corpo-marketing loves to bend facts like that - it's not a lie, but also not a full truth either.

Ah the pc master race in full swing with a huge amount of people that have weaker GPUs then the ps5.

Makes you wonder how rough going these lot are putting up with most of the recent AAA releases
