*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Looking for a reason to hate my 7800xt and upgrade to something more powerful but it handles all latest games at 1440p really well without compromise. But if AI FSR 4.0 works on it well, then guess I will have to wait a few more years to resolve the itch.

Yeah I am really hoping fsr 4 works well on RDNA 3 as I really like my 7900 gre and would like to keep it at least until we get RDNA 5 or for some reason I am tempted by the inevitable 5070ti super. Got my PS5 pro today and PSSR works very well

Any ideas when the 7800xt and 7700xt will be reduced in price?

They already have, i mean i paid £480 for one of these, its £420 now.

7700 XT is now £360, down from about £430.

If you're looking for further reductions i don't know but i can't see them coming down by much more if at all, they are selling quite well now and when the replacement GPU's land next year they are going to be £550 maybe £600...

I would buy now. When stock runs low they might go back up in price.

Do we know what OC return policy is as far as Christmas goes ? Thinking about grabbing 2 7700xt or 7800xt if they go for £400 on black Friday for both my lads for Christmas but won't get installed until after the 25th and don't want to have to deal with warranty returns at that point. Rainforest allows returns until 31st Jan. Sorry not really related to this thread but just in case someone knows.

EXTENDED CHRISTMAS RETURNS

Purchased something for Christmas but not sure it's exactly what they want? We're extending our returns period this Christmas in case the present you've bought isn't quite right. Any purchase made between Friday 1st November and Friday 20th December qualifies, with the return request needing to be made between Wednesday 25th December and Friday 17th January. Once approved, the product must be return by Friday 31st January for processing. Our cancellation period terms described above apply during this period, such as the product required to be in an original sealed condition.

From OC website.

wonder if it will match the 7900xtx performance but better RT and efficiency ? but better priced as it will be mid tier this years 7900xt/xtx will be mid tier peformance next gen ?

Su would only say that, "revenue declined year-over-year as we prepare for a transition to our next-gen Radeon GPUs based on our RDNA 4 architecture. In addition to a strong increase in gaming performance, RDNA 4 delivers significantly higher ray-tracing performance and adds new AI capabilities. We are on track to launch the first RDNA 4 GPUs in early 2025."

one can hope, I dont consider 7800xt performance to be next gens mid tier performance from what they are aiming for
why not so we expecting 7800xt type of performance for next gens mid tier ? but with better RT / effiency ? or either 7900xt/xtx type of performance for mid tier next gen

Check the stream processor/compute figures. Last I seen it was less than the 7900 sku so you will be lucky to surpass it by much just because its new gen. Yes it should have better RT by how much though..

same node ? if its 7800xt with better RT yeah thats me out, ideally for my next upgrade looking for 7900xt/4080 type performance without paying over the top

I would still be interested depending on a) its price and b) it proper RT capability. January is going to be entertaining.

Bad news. As more testing of the PS5 Pro is being done we can see that it's ultimately quite underwhelming architecturally. Spells bad news for RDNA 4. So 8800XT = 7800 XT with slightly better RT, which let's be honest = 6800 XT with slightly better RT. But probably a better FSR, so at least that would be something (kinda; what devs are gonna go back and backport it; still a big negative compared to DLSS imo).

But...but...people were saying 4080 speeds???? WTFH!!!????? :p

As I've been saying people, temper your expectations. Prob be an 8700XT max....

Correct. In best cases 7900XT raster. Its the other "features" we need to see now. I mean they did dip out of high end and say mid-tier like back in the 5700 days.

lol at this comparison. It’s quite pathetic to even remotely compare these things.

PS5 Pro is $699 MSRP for a complete system.

RTX 4070 cost $599 for a GPU alone.

Go build a comparable PC with NVME, RAM, CPU, Motherboard GPU, slimline compact case, OS, controller etc for that. You would end up with a pile of crap that is not even close for RT gaming.

The lengths some of these people go to just to make AMD look bad is laughable.

I did think similar. I.e comparing a console to a dedicated gpu. Why can't people just wait until the real thing is here and then make a decision/comment/judgement? Just more stuff for the anti-AMD brigade to jump on and get their daily fix. :)

Don't forget that LTT just recently released a video trying to beat the pro by matching it price but everything was used parts lol
