Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

9.3.4...hope you have strong foundations for the subs...Mine isn't that bad but in the living room I have a 9.3.4 and a 2.1 system
Vega was the last time that happened IIRC.

Probably not, especially since they would be listed on the OCuk product pages by now. Keep an eye on https://www.amdrewards.com/terms after 2pm UK tomorrow and see if that changes to include the new cards.I'm guessing we won't get the free monster hunter wilds code with the new gpus?

Vega was exactly the launch I was thinking of. AMD announced an MSRP, but when the reviews came out, that MSRP was for a limited number of cards. The real MSRP was $100 more expensive. And if I remember correctly, Gibbo made a similar post in the days before Vega Launched warning about the MSRP been for a capped number of cards.
This is the first AMD launch since then that a rebate scheme has been mentioned. So AMD might be doing the same again. Taking a loss on a limited number of cards to get interest and sales up.
Obviously I am hoping that's not the case. All I am saying, is that it might not be just sales talk from Gibbo. As AMD have done this before.
Do they still hack fit Coolers designed for Nvidia to AMD cards? I remember that being a thing....
Is there any point getting something like the Nitro+ over the Pulse and just OCing yourself?

There doesn't seem to be any XFX 9070 series available anywhere here in the UK. Else I'd have been interested in the mid-tier if it was under £600, which now I realise there is fat chance of.It looks like XFX has significantly beefed up their Mag Air card (now "Mercury Mag") to be their top-end model and it will be the highest clocked (and thickest) of the bunch. This is the one I'm going for.
This is the same nonsense the retailers, including here, peddled when the GTX 1000 series launched and UK pricing was terrible. I was the only one complaining about the poor pricing and that buying at those prices, just gave all in the supply chain confidence, that consumers are capable of being rinsed for more. Now look where we are... rinse and repeat. This whole generation is the pre-scalped generation. What a load of tosh. What was the exchange rate when they were bought by the retailer? The ballpark is like for like USD vs GBP post VAT and import charges.
A real shame they cancelled reference models. They would have been the one to get for best value, though I bet they'd still be pre-scalped for the buyer's convenience. How is it that AIBs tolerate Nvidia's nonsense (except EVGA who left) and yet AMD aren't allowed to release nice reference cards?I can't find the video but there is footage of the 9070 XT reference design inside a demo case at CES, it does seem to look like the renders.
They existed. I'm guessing AMD cancelled the reference cards due to pressure from board partners, reference cards have been a bone of contention with them especially given that AMD's recent designs are not just capable but also have a tasteful quality aesthetic that is quite appealing to people, me for example, i don't like very busy complex gamery designs that a lot of them go with, the mat black RDNA 3 designs are really quite elegant with just a little cheeky flair with the 3 red fins.
Its a shame to lose them now as they become EOL.
They are good designs and AIB's find that quite annoying, especially when those cards also set the base price, AMD went through the expense of designing these coolers, and its not cheep, there is a lot of engineering involved and good quality artists are also not cheep, what a shame they never saw the light of day....
MSRP my rear. The 10x price hints show nothing under £600. It it was MSRP, then there'd be models going for £599.99 at most. This really is just sales tactics and nonsense. And even if they did have some at a different price... how would they sell them? Suddenly change pricing hours into launch like they were doing with the Nvidia 5090/5080s?Not that this should surprise anyone but here's confirmation that there will only be a limited quantity at MSRP during launch. So if you want one that cheap then get it quick otherwise you could be waiting for months for it to come back down, if it ever does.

So I'm continually hearing buy a Sapphire Nitro+ if I want a flagship card then.Rule #1 of buying an AMD GPU: never ever ever buy one from Asus / Gigabyte / MSI.
The cheapest cards are always the best value. The more expensive ones have (in theory) better cooling, are meant to be better looking, and might have some extra lighting and features (e.g. the hidden power connector on the Nitro+).
If the difference is under £40 I would say it's worth it as are getting a better cooler, RGB, higher binned, and a factory overclock. Is there any point getting something like the Nitro+ over the Pulse and just OCing yourself?
hah! i had once of those too.#1 Sapphire
#2 Powercolour
Without seeing any in depth reviews id go with the above. If those are unavailable, id personally do a bit more research.
I had a Strix Vega64 and that thing was so Hot, I RMA'd it.
