*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

I don't understand people at all.

You can buy a 5070ti for £100 less than that from an actual retailer right now.

You save £100 and get the objectively better card.

Bizarre.

Agreed, the 5070 Ti, is what like, 20% more expensive? 62% less power consumption than the 9070 XT, up to 9% more performance, but 100% the better brand :D

I better go hide now, gonna get some heat for this comment :p

I mean, it is true that it is objectively the better card.

yes its only marginally faster in raster, but it IS decently faster in RT, and appears to be less power hungry.

So if the 5070ti is cheaper from an actual retailer where you will get consumer rights and warranty, buying a more expensive 9070 XT from a private seller on ebay is totally nuts.

I just dont understand who these people are. I would have thought to have even be looking at the 9070 XT over the last few days you must have some sort of knowledge of what it is and GPUs in general. So why would anyone do it?

I just fact checked my comment and it was wrong, not 35% but 62%, "The 5070 Ti is 62% more efficient than the 9070 XT here, up at 0.73 FPS/W. This is not a good result for AMD."

The 9070 XT is far better value in terms of cost at RRP though, but I think the 5070 Ti at RRP is a good value as well., unfortunately we live in crazy times and nothing is MSRRP anymore.

I totally agree with you, if you're paying over the odds anyway, why not get scalped from a retailer and get the best card you can.

It's the FOMO. Even I've been tempted to buy one at the msrp and I don't think I really need one. There will be people upgrading from an older card than a 3080FE so the uplift for them seems well worth the scalped price. Sad times for gamers.

To me all this comes down to is not the MSRP being the price's they are, I'd happily pay for most GPU at MSRP, but the retailers putting up the prices £150-200 more and knowing scalpers will be buying the majority of all the GPU's on the market and then flogging them for even more.

Neither AMD, Nvidia, Retailers or scalpers are losing out and its a pay day for all concerned.

Consumers get the sharp end of the stick, Everyone saying don't vote with your wallet and boycott the launches. This would work 100% but its not the consumers who are getting first dibs.

Problem is that the end users are paying for the scalped cards. If people had some self control and refused to pay the inflated prices then the prices will have to come down.
If retailers started to get cards sitting in the warehouse for too long then they won't buy more from the wholesalers which eventually backs up to AMD's AIB's. Hopefully the AIB's will be producing and shipping cards daily so the shortage won't be as significant as for the RTX cards.

I don’t think TNA is an Nvidia fanboy, just a bit of an edgelord who likes to troll for lols. :)

It’s all a bit of ribbing to be fair to TNA

Lol. Edgelord.. I had to Google that one...

I have been branded an Nvidia fanboy and an AMD fanboy over the years. Never an Intel one, I need to work on that one :p

I still remember Grim calling me a AMD fanboy all the time. He even said I would never buy a Nvidia gpu

Back then most my gpu's were mainly AMD. Only the past 6 years or so have i been mainly buying Nvidia.

Scalping will happen for as long as there are more people wanting something than there is stock, arguably it would still happen even if there was parity (as the scalper purchases would reduce the available stock).

For scalping to be neutered there would need to be significantly more stock than those seeking to make the purchase in a given period - which would mean that the vendors would sit with unsold inventory for a while.

Bit of an "each way nudger" then ;)

That used to be pretty normal though. OCUK used to often have almost the whole inventory of an available tier of GPUs in stock.

You could just do your research and pick the exact one you wanted and buy it no problem.

If they keep coming in deliveries of thousands though, demand will slow down.

I just can't believe there are that many people continuously in the market for a £600 GPU.

Once stock stays in retailers, scalpers will give up too, which will make things even better.
why ?

loads of people got covid computers with 3060 ect in and they are all 4 years + now which = upgrade time

madness but most people are a touch simple and follow a herd so to speak

Indeed - however with other more profitable products vying for a limited number of wafers both AMD and NVidia aren't reliant on the dGPU market - so we get what we get.

there is no MSRP on AIB cards the only good thing with the amd cards is the decent ones tend to be £70-100 more than the base tops with Nvidia cards this seems to be anything upto £400 extra for a decent cooling solution
