*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Christ I would laugh it it turns out all this chaos is because amd expected the 9070xt to match the 5070ti and it turns out it's better than the 5080, and they panicked because they priced them too low. I mean I don't think that's at all the case on any level. But it would be funny. 9070xt £850 but matches the 5080 :P
This would be funny and you could be right - Maybe they are currently reprinting any pricing due to being more competitive.

I can see an AMD fumble, $700 and $600.

I was going to get a 5090 but like most others failed to get anywhere before systems crashed! Given the prices, im now thinking AMD may be my way forward. I never really followed AMD much nor know a lot about them or the products. Am i right in assuming cards ending XTX are akin to the TI cards form nvidia, ie a beefier version of an exisitng card? IF thats right, given theres a new set of cards out soon, generally is an XTX version released fairly soon after?
My thinking is if i cant get a 5090 for reasonable money, an AMD that does most of what a 5090 does but a whole lot less would be better value for me. Am i thinking wrong?

AMD are not going to release anything this year that will challenge a 5090. Check hardware unboxed or tech powerup website to see where the GPUs perform.

AMD are only looking like offering the highest 9070 and 9070xt which are looking like going up against 5070 and 5070ti , performance and pricing still yet to be known

From how bad Nvidia are offering below 5090 it might even be good alternative to the 5080

What I have learned over the past 6-7 years since the general trend of price/performance has been swan diving into the toilet... expect higher prices for less. I do have an educated feeling that AMD is repositioning 9070/xt in both tiering and price. From all I've read about RDNA4, is it's small, efficient (more efficient that RDNA4) and the chip scales well. AMD likely has a set of cards that span the gamut from 4070 performance (raster AND RT) to something above 4080 Super and below 5080. They aren't whistling dixie when they said they're tweaking performance, likely pushing the envelope on the higher tier model 9070xt.

Let me pose this question: if they had a few 9070xt models that were a bees knee away from 5080 performance, ~8% slower, would the market buy that for $/£800? Probably, and I know I would find that plutôt intéressant.

I agree, I think it would save us all some sanity by closing off the thread for 3 weeks and less chance of boredom and lack of news leading to off-topic rambling.
Mods, would this be an abuse of your powers? :p

I thought you were going to lock the thread for a few weeks?

Anything rx7900xt or above at 500 or rx7900xtx at 600 I'm in. My son's birthday is April and he wants my old 1080 upgrading in his pc for his birthday so fingers crossed.
Considering that the XT can be had for around 600 due to all the deals flying around, I just feel at bit meh at the idea of the same performance in a new package for 500. Sure it's better but meh. I will most likely jump on it as my PC is in need for some GPU horsepower but it wont be with a smile tbh. The XTX performance for 600 sounds better actually, even though its still a ton for a x70 class card.

That's my point if it's 7900xt performance they can't really charge more than 500 or they should have just continued making the 7900 series with the better yield the process will be getting now. If it 7900xtx 4080 performance then 600 maybe 650 depending in the RT performance but any higher the 5070ti will steal the show due to people's mindset and marketing power.

Is it really the same performance though? Given FSR4.0 seems a huge upgrade, and that massively improved RT performance?

Lol, I'm not a mod
Also surprised that and shocked that there's actual legit news to discuss:

I'm glad it's not that soon after the release of the new Monster Hunter... but being an early adopter is risky and I'd want to wait for reviews of the different models showing temps and noise.
This must mean that AMD will have some sort of big reveal within the next few weeks right? Or will they leave it up till the last minute and reveal after 5070ti launches?

Also congrats @humbug for reaching 50k posts, hard to believe we both joined the forum the same year :D
And nice timing to stop posting for a bit, so we can admire the nice round number of 50000 a while longer
