the problem is that without an AMD release many of us are looking at monitors as well, to freesync or not to freesync, in my case without news I'm forced to buy Gync, that leaves me having to buy a gsync monitor, with the cost of those AMD will have lost a client for 3 years at least

I imagine a few have Freesync screens and wanting a GPU to power them and hence why the irritation at AMD for no news.

True, but then they should just admit to themselves that they're essentially either cash-strapped, or suckers for value-for-money. Ain't nothing bad with that. Just gotta keep waiting...

So, because I've got a Freesync panel and want something to work with Freesync I'm essentially a pauper?
Talk about a high horse.

Compare Vega Frontier Edition vs 1080 Ti:

https://compubench.com/compare.jsp?...type2=dGPU&hwname2=NVIDIA+GeForce+GTX+1080+Ti

Shocked to see Vega Frontier Edition at 1.6GHz core with 16GB HBM2 is slower than Fury X just days after AMD showed off shocked and very embarrassed demo of Prey at 4K powered by 2 Vega 10 cards in crossfire managed just over 60 fps, if AMD showed off Prey 4K demo ran on a single Vega 10 card then framerate will be over 30 which is as fast as GTX 1060 and RX 480 but much slower than Fury X.

Not surprised Vega is so very late to market, I think something is wrong with Vega and looked like Vega could possible another Bulldozer disaster if it cant fix with future drivers.

They are, since it's clear that's where most of the R&D money went.

Once they finally break out of debt we should see proper funding poor in.

What we've been seeing over the last few years is what they've managed to do with limited resources, It's now going to take a few years for what's on offer to not be tech that had a tight budget during development. I'm hoping everything goes well so that once we get to the architecture after Navi they'll be properly back kicking butt and yaking names.

Yup. At least they should shown how will it look. ATM we know well nothing about RX... like is there AIO version ?? If not that's straight 1080/1080ti purchase. I dont want to wait 2 months now just to wait another 2-3 months to get AIB watercooled one... 4-5 months FROM NOW vs buy NV now.
We know something about RX, that it takes 2 in crossfire with a 16 core CPU to pull off Prey@4K with screen tearing :p That's something ?!?

Damn my 8 core wont cut it then :( An ill need 1kw psu upgrade to run games at 4k@60 :( 8 cores 30fps 16 cores 60 :D

AthlonXP1800 seen it and does not look good. Looks so bad that is TRUE like its always been with AMD the worse it looks then more real leaks turn out to be :/

So far this is shaping up to be a typical AMD launch. We have:

  • People upset that AMD is not releasing a wham-bham-drop-the-mike benchmark that clearly shows it is 30% faster than the 1080ti
    • Said people will jump and point out to anyone speculating it is indeed that fast, that it's too little too late - Volta is just around the corner.
  • People criticising that lack of concrete info, explaining how all this secrecy is just losing them sales
    • Said people also complain that AMD should be more like Nvidia and give zero info, then just release the card and be done.
  • People announcing they're getting a 1080ti, expecting us to react as if they just announced they're about to jump off a bridge, and beg them not to.
    • It is said that more than half the people that walked up to the edge of a bridge don't actually follow through and jump. It is also said that almost all other people don't really care whether they jump or not.
  • ...
I know you shouldn't laugh at the one about people jumping off bridges, but it did make me laugh :)

Crikey it's getting a little bit heavy in here already. Calm down people, It's ONLY a graphics card pre-launch period. Technically Vega will be released in H1. At the end of the day, Vega is a Graphics chip not a Graphics card. They never actually said consumer/Gamer RX Vega will be launched and in the shops H1. no-one from AMD has said that AFAIK. I know it's what a lot of people assumed but assuming only makes an ass out of U and me. Personally I would prefer AMD/RTG to hang onto RX Vega until they have it right....If they released now with issues then some of you lot would scream the place down and put the boot in even more. So I think they may be learning that its best to get it all right before release. If it's still all wrong when they release at Siggraph then my eyes will roll skyward and I'll wonder what the hell they have been up to for the last two years @ RTG. Right now I am testing the 1070 I had given me and I already have a few thoughts which I think I will put in a separate thread to discuss in a humane fashion (Hopefully). Remember everyone, Life isnt just gaming and computers/Consoles.............it's about lots of other important things too.......like Beer. ;):p

nailed it

I thought it was generally appreciated it wan't launching at computex or that soon after? Pretty sure I have been reading the same news as everyone else these past weeks and Raja himself seemed pretty upfront in the reddit Q&A that consumer Vega would be several weeks after the Frontier Edition.

The problem is people are also getting lots of rumours of serious delays, and news gaming Vega paper launched July 30th. They see custom cards not appearing until September. They then get good rumours of Volta by the end of the year

It is certainly not slower than Fury..actually this is 99% fake as a 390X can do better than those numbers.

Thats the thing ATM AMD gave many of us NOTHING to wait for compared to going and buyng product that you can get NOW.

So far I seen it running in-between 1080-1080ti 6 months ago.

I'm just waiting cause 980ti clocked to max is still doing good. But if i had anything slower would had pascal since day one. Not jumped to 1080 only cause when it came out was to much cash for performance upgrade it offered. Now that prices went down i could have one :)

Like must resist !!!!

Is fake mate. Even the 290X is faster than that

FYI the computex presentation was about threadripper not vega. And AMD has said end H1 2017 since last year. So I don't see why all the lamenting about this

Honestly, do people really think vega is going to be slower than a 2 year old fury x.... lol.

Maybe.... if the drivers are really ****..... But I would like to think even AMD aren't that stupid to release a card with **** drivers and have a fury x, 390x etc. beating vega.....

I get the disappointment at the delay but people should have been prepared after the Q&A for gaming Vega not being announced at computex. The shortage of Polaris cards won't be helping consumer sentiment at the other end either.

If they're considering waiting longer for Volta then awaiting Vega should be no problem! :D

It's OK fellas I know you are in denial, maybe you doctor can prescribe you some of these to help you come to terms that Vega is a bit of a turkey :p

Not in denial, if vega is **** then so be it, I certainly won't be defending it, heck, if what is being said is true about sony having some epic bundle deals on the ps 4 pro for e3, I will no longer be invested in PC gaming anyway, regardless of vega being amazing/bad.

I just think those who are expecting vega to be worse than a fury x and even a 290x (lol) are missing a few brain cells.... Ok, it might be **** if that benchmark is to be trusted but you can be sure that it will be down to drivers and certainly not the hardware..... A fury x at the same speeds as vega is matching a 1080 so yeah, call me in denial over a benchmark where even a 290x is faster than vega....

It is simply called using common sense.
