The fact that they didn't show the fps counter suggests they don't want it compared to the Ti. Now that could be because it actually smokes the Ṭi or its much slower. If it was the former that event wouldn't have been so muted. So I guess it matches the 1080 no more no less. Its definitely not going to be the Ryzen of GPUs.

Am going with AMD haven't yet finalised yet and font want number to be compared just yet. Two months away is still a long time for optimisation of drivers etc

Yup vega will come nowhere close to a 1080ti, let alone a 1080....

Haven't you heard, AMD have decided that instead of releasing gpus that are faster than their previous gen gpus, they are now going to be approaching the GPU sector in a whole new way that blow people away..... They will now be releasing gpus that are not only slower than a 2 year old gpu of theirs but also slower than a 4+ year old GPU. That's how you do business chaps!

I'm still expecting vega to be handled the same way as ryzen was, little to no info until release day when people can buy straight after the reveal and have it matching a 1080 at the very least (in dx 11) but being at least £100 cheaper.

I don't think it will beat a 1080ti but I don't think it will be far behind it either (assuming drivers are somewhat well done).... However, if history is anything to go by..... I suspect that vega will get better optimised over time and then be matching a 1080ti (in dx 11)

Soon they'll reach the great heights that 3DFX's VooDoo cards managed :D

Not in denial, if vega is **** then so be it, I certainly won't be defending it, heck, if what is being said is true about sony having some epic bundle deals on the ps 4 pro for e3, I will no longer be invested in PC gaming anyway, regardless of vega being amazing/bad.
Thanks for the heads up.

Both my brother and I are thinking of dropping PC gaming for a PS4... will have to keep an eye on that one!

(The reason being both of us have older PCs, and would be looking at needing to drop £1k or so on a completely new build to re-join the PC gaming mater race.)

Np.

A member posted about it in the ps 4 pro thread.

Yup, 4+ years ago, it would certainly be worth dropping that sort of money on PC gaming but these days, not so much imo especially when PS 4 has so many great exclusives.

I've almost bought a PS4 twice this week mostly due to my AM4 mobo failing but I have been tempted for a while. I'm going to see what happens with my replacement mobo and see what Vega brings and if its all frustration and silly money then ill be going PS4 for the exclusives it has and letting my pc build get old and no longer upgrade it

Crikey it's getting a little bit heavy in here already. Calm down people, It's ONLY a graphics card pre-launch period. Technically Vega will be released in H1. At the end of the day, Vega is a Graphics chip not a Graphics card. They never actually said consumer/Gamer RX Vega will be launched and in the shops H1. no-one from AMD has said that AFAIK. I know it's what a lot of people assumed but assuming only makes an ass out of U and me.
Pretty sure when they made the announcement of H1-17 they were discussing gaming Vega at the time.

People talking about playstations always crack me up. All it is today is a weak PC in a closed eco-system and no upgradeability. What do you gain exactly besides the very rare exclusive game?

While these days Consoles do have more bugs in the games than they used to they are still way ahead of PC's for the game being close to the finished article. The exclusives especially are way more polished at launch. I see this being the main advantage the Console has over the PC atm. You can also rent Console games and send them back when done which is what i do, saves me loads of money. PC will most likely always be the superior tech but just installing a game without having to tinker does have it's merits for some.

This isn't 2007, most games come out and run fine nowadays. Even if they aren't fully optimised they still run better than console most of time.

You must not be playing Ubisoft games then :D:D:D

A quote from a games tester.

Coming from a former tester, we have quite a bit more pressure to find bugs in console games then PC ones. The reason for this is that every game that comes out for playstation or xbox has to pass a compliance test at sony or microsoft before you're allowed to sell it on their platform, so if it's a buggy mess you're simply not allowed to sell it. As for PC games it doesn't have to pass any test (imagine steam or GoG testing every one of there games.) so there is less pressure to make it perfect.

Arkham Knight is a very good example. The PC version would never have made it onto the Ps4 or Xbone.

OK, I'll bite. And I'll bite as an avid PC gaming fan of 30 years or more, so no fanboy'ism. :)

Just got a PS4 Pro. Been very, very happy with it. £349, and that included Horizon Zero Dawn.

Bought another 9 games. All from eBay. Nearly all are exclusive to the PS4. All are great single-player games, which is what I love. Average purchase price has been £11.57p. All are disk-based, so can be resold and get most of my money back. And they were so cheap in the first place.

I've never skipped PC gaming before in my life, but the shoddy quality of most PC ports and the insane cost of graphics cards has pushed me too far. I'm happy with where I am now. Will pick up the odd PC title in a Steam sale - or better still, on GOG - but for now, I'm out. My 970 will keep me happy for another year or two.

Hope that didn't "crack you up" too much. :)

NB. I will be ignoring ALL responses to my post, as things just get far too childish around these parts when any sensible debate about the cost of gaming comes up and people mention consoles. I'm happy with my choice. I am also happy with anyone else who has made a different choice. :)

As long as naughty dog remains sony exclusive there will always be a reason to have a PlayStation. I haven't seen a game anywhere else with the production values of the uncharted series.
