I have a MSI Gaming X 1080 already, purchased at launch.

I have however been watching this thread in what seems like the most protracted wait ever for reviews, I think it's mainly due to AMD shaking up the CPU market. I've been hoping they'd do the same with GPU.... It doesn't seem likely though.

One thing I'll never understand is why some celebrate a AMD stumble, are they content on paying over the odds for Nvidia cards because the market isn't competitive.

Quite.

Do Really wish AMD just stopped using the normal ref design and went something like this.. This is supposed to be the RX 56 Ref but why not the 64 also?

Like they did with the Fury pro but not the Fury X. It's stupid not too. I'd of been happy with a Fury x cooled with the Tri-x cooler.

had it ..can not wait another hour ..just bought a 1080 :p

the only reason i havent done this is because the 56 leaked results show it ahead of a 1070 which would be ideal for the £400 mark. Ive been so tempted to grab a 1080 but something keeps telling me to hold off

No doubt the people who complain and Nvidias pricing will be doing the same here won't they?
Oh no, I imagine they'll be jumping with joy to finally buy a Vega.

There's obviously those more neutral who won't be, but there will be plenty of hypocrites today

Are you reading this thread? there are nothing but complaints about the pricing.

And since we are speaking of hypocrites. There will be just as many from the other side. Have already seen a few posts from some of them. Back when people were complaining about the 1080 launch price in £'s were quick to point out that the price in £'s isn't Nvidia's fault. That the only price the card can be judged at is the price in $, the MSRP that Nvidia suggested. Is it not the same with AMD?

The RX56 reference looks the same as the RX64 reference (from unboxings of it seen thus far). This one seems to be a special edition of the RX56 (well, that or it's the Nano and their original cooler plan failed haha).

If they made reference cards look like that then they wouldn't work in the majority of cases. The reason the HD7990 used an open cooler was because it was a repurposed server card cooler.

I see people also ready to buy it, the same people who won't buy Nvidia

Have just been sitting here wondering how it could possibly be worse than the FE. Then I remembered they probably binned the FE.

What an awful, awful card.

Would you buy one at 699

Nope, I would just get a 1080ti at that point, whilst I have a freesync monitor the extra performance of the 1080ti would be a reasonable tradeoff.

Also I need to get a new PSU so my budget of £800 won't get me a decent 1KW PSU and a vega 64 AIO if they come in at more than £600

We have a lot of stock, so its a free for all, but orders are strictly 3pc per customer max online and 2pc per customer to our B2B team. That should limit it and based on the volume we have customers a good few hours to decide.

Also note the basic bare card has a launch special price, so the first few hundred we sell at this price is £100 below where it will sit regular, of course the pricing structure can and may change over coming days/weeks to make this statement null and void, but if it remains true do not be shocked when the price rockets £100 a few days/week later.

Never understood that mindset either. So NVIDIA charge what the like, so what. They are not a charity, if folk are happy to pay their prices, fine. I hoped Vega would be a game changer, its not. It looks like the price/performance will be poor too. Time to jump manufacturers.

I went Fury X to punish Nvidia for releasing a 3.5gb card. It's better now than when I got it, but only because I put it under water (proper water). I really don't hate myself that much any more. I could not pay £699 for a card that is worse in about every way, and consumes 500w. I mean seriously, most people over the past couple of years have dropped down to power supplies that are 550w or less, now AMD are saying you need a 1000w.

The whole Vega episode since the very beginning has been a complete farce.

Sometimes it's more than money, it's ethics as well that can influence purchasing decisions.

can't believe no leaks have gone up yet, 34 minutes to release and still no one has fancied jumping the gun. AMD have kept this as tight as a drum, tighter than my mate Stumpy when we play Poker.....unbelievable.

You haven't looked hard enough. It's been leaked already and it's utter pants. You would have to be a masochist to buy one.

Why would you bother jumping the gun now if you waited this long ;)
