The Ampere RTX 3090 Owners Thread

You would think that a top of the range GPU costing at least £1400 would have decent thermal pads that must cost pennies when bought in bulk.

If anything it would mitigate warranty issues if the RAM overheats.

SO...I replaced my thermal pads front and back.

Took me a little while mainly because I wanted to be super super sure I didn't bork anything.
The pre applied pads are trash.

Not tried any games yet. But Jeepers.
When mining at 120MH/s I was hitting 106/108 temps with an old heat sink and fan on the back of the card and the side panel off.

With no extra heat sink and the side still off, it's been mining for 10 mins and temp has only hit 86 Degrees!

Very pleased!
Anyone knows which thermal pads to use with PNY RTX 3090 XLR8?
I´m getting the card too hot on long renders/simulations.
I´m looking for thermal solutions on it.

Please help!

Modified H700 case.

Been bleeding the loop all day and putting a lot of heat into it to get rid of bubbles.

Still a few lurking around in the radiators that keep coming through.

Noticeable improvement for me so far, but I still think the GPU block might need re-seating.

Must be making pretty good contact, but maybe a tiny bit off.

That's major surgery and I don't know if I can face that again!

Other temps are pretty fantastic, in my opinion.

You could use the same ones I did just need to make sure you buy the right thickness, mine were 1.5mm. Depending on the card, the type of backplate, spacing etc yours may differ.

Ok Guys. This Thread is awesome!
So much to learn!
I picked up my first approach adding more fans to the side of the case (My case is huge fortunately).
Then added some heatsinks (Old and new ones).
Temps got down almost 10º celcius!
The temp is taken from Hwinfo.
Now I´m going to try some test with minning (seen faster to load to the GPU than my simulations). As soon as I get the results I´ll share here.

Many thanks guys for sharing this info!
