The Ampere RTX 3090 Owners Thread

Take the card out and reseat as well, check PCI-E cables back to the PSU, I've had weird crashes before on a modular PSU and the cable wasn't quite in PSU end.
Thanks - I reseated it several times whilst I checked my old card was still working.
And I tried different PSU cables and unplugging and plugging them back in

Reinstalled the drivers but got the same crash loading into Metro Exodus unfortunately
I think that could be RMA time then, first Fe i have seen that had problems but no doubt not the last. perhaps they are rushing these new cards to much to get them out there.
Probably - it's even crashing when I try and load Time Spy at the "collecting system info" stage

Hi all

I’ve recently joined the 3090 owners club!
And for 2 days I was enjoying the card. Then I tried a bit of undervolting as I’d read about the good results you guys were getting. I undervolted to about 850mV and everything seemed stable and I played a couple of hours of Metro Exodus.

Then the game crashed and I had to hard reboot. But since then I can’t load any games or benchmarking as the card seems to crash immediately forcing hard reboots - well, I can get to the menu of Metro Exodus for example but it crashes as soon as I try and continue the game.

Could I have damaged the card undervolting?
Or could it be my power supply? I have a Corsair HX850 which I thought was reasonable. (And when I put my old Strix 2080 OC back in it seems fine and I can game on that still.)

Thanks for any help.

Make sure you nuke the AB software for applying at bootup. You want to load windows at defaults, if you checked the box to apply at startup this can put you in a lockout. I would see if you can borrow or swap in another PSU to rule that out first, it could also be another component (mobo, RAM). Reset your BIOS to defaults, no overclocks. After that its RMA time I guess.

Thanks - AB is disabled at windows startup. But I'll try setting the BIOS to default idea in a bit.

I don't think I'll mention it when I send it back (it's with a competitor) :)
And I wasn't trying to overclock it which I can understand may push it too far and cause damage. I would have thought these cards have tons of safeguards built in anyway.

I put my 3090 on my contents insurance :)

These cards are all designed that you cant damage them anymore with simply setting things in Afterburner/OC software, there just made that way now you will be fine. Ofc claim ignorance so they don't have an excuse but still... Gutted for you if it is faulty.

Really chuffed with my FE!!
Check my GPU temp on stock cooler (maxed this run 100% for giggles) it normally runs 58c on normal fan profile with this under volt. 906mV/2040mhz sits there happy all day, thats an awesome under volt for OC stable! OFC in 3DMark its draws 380w average in games around 280w.

Memory I would add @500Mhz is the sweet spot for my card no ECC, however in 3DMark you still gain points @750mhz. For every day use I sit at 500mhz where i know there are no errors.

I was chuffed with it until it started playing up - it's an impressive piece of kit. I'm hoping it's the PSU although an HX850 should be ok I would have thought. I'll try and source another one in the next couple of days to try.
