Indeed its 15mhz steppings, not the issue for me I think. for 1.025v is fine to go up to 2145mhz, infact right now playing AC Valhalla last hour at same voltage but only targeting 2100Mhz its been sat at 2115Mhz fine. Problem really is the profiles do not seem to stick no matter what I do, just want to understand if others with MSI AB have same issue.

Just before getting into AC Valhalla done a reboot and it randomly decided to lower the target frequency that came on with PC. Another reset and it changed the target once again, just bizarre. So more of a MSI AB behaviour question really now

Yeah, it's pretty annoying when trying to max oc a card for benching, get one point done, save profile then when load it to do the next point it changes loads of points you've already set!

I gave up on it eventually and just set +200/+748, fans to 72 save. Means every time I load the profile it'll set fans to 60deg which is what I want. Nothings easy!

Heh, not tried pushing this card to its max yet. Have in the past with other GPUs and after a while of thrashing them they seem not achieve such highs again! Avoiding maxing the voltage / power etc on this one and treat it well (for once)

may try OCX see if that can dial in and keep the voltage curve steady.

Has anyone got issues with MSI AB always altering the voltage curve itself? Dialled in 2.1Ghz day to day clock at an undervolt (compared to stock) of 1.025v which works perfect for gaming (though does drop with RT heavy ones). However after I reset the PC, with the same profile set to come on automatically, it automatically targets 2160 Mhz at the same 1.025v which is just a tad too much for that voltage and falls over. Has anyone managed to get the MSI voltage curve to stick properly after resetting. I just want it to stick to what I have and come on after each reboot.

I believe it is a known issue. If the card is not idle then applying custom curve profile changes from what you set. Wait until the card is completely idle to apply custom voltage/clock profile.

But even doing that does not guarantee the right clocks. I target 1800 but if I put 1800 in the curve profile I get peak 1815 which is unstable. If I put 1770 then it never goes above 1775. So I had to put it to 1800 then it moves itself to (sometimes, somehow) 1770 and only then I get stable 1800 undervolted.

Very picky card.

Cheers will give those tips a try. Yeah is weird behaviour, manually set things and it's flawless, but everytime I restart the pc just changes the profile entirely from what I set and save, can be up or down. Will try precision from evga and see how that behaves this evening.

Anyone with the kfa2 3090 get the fans to stop at idle? Its idle at 35 but they don't stop, also playing cyberpunk fans go to 75% instantly even tho the temp is only 61,seems a bit aggressive.

Yeah, that fans at idle worked just fine for me, there's a block on it now though. Also works fine for my housemate's, who is still waiting for his block.

Here's mine all installed yesterday. Unlike Shairi I never bothered with the RGB thingy it's in a closed case so no point. Have to say I'm majorly impressed with this card. Whisper quiet great performance what's not to like apart from the price of course hehe. Should keep me going for the next 4 years. I've also bought a 3800X which is arriving in a few days as I think the 2700 is a bit under powered. Nothing overclocked yet all at stock and scored 12,376 on Port Royal RT demo, 18,587 on Gfx on Timespy and 117 on Brighlight RT demo with RT very high and DLSS on performance. Happy chappy especially as we're stuffing Leeds get in.

For those of you using a 3090 day to day now would you say it's worth the extra cost against a 3080 for gaming at 3440 x 1440 (coupled with a 5900X)?

Realise that's a bit of a "how long is a bit of string" question, just a bit concerned the VRAM on the 3080 could be a limiting factor for the mid term future - I'd expect to skip a generation and then upgrade (so I guess Geforce 5XXX next time).

I know it's not a trivial amount of money extra but i'd rather spend it now and get it right than have to do an interim update in a year. I can't wait for a Ti announcement as it would need to be bought by Jan.

What say you oh wise ones?

If the 3080 had 16g of memory i would say no, but for future proofing and high memory usage the 3090 is an awesome card. but of course it is more expensive. The FE offers the best value in the 3090's

These cards are terrible value for money, so I say no, not worth the extra cost. All it takes to not run into VRAM issues if you even ever would is to lower a setting or two a bit, and most of that 24GB of VRAM is going to be wasted on most of us who got a 3090.

Not worth it from a price to performance aspect. Your looking at what at 15% uplift in new titles over the 3080 at 4k, at 3440x1440 where it cannot stretch its legs or cores cannot be fed quick enough with the architecture a 5%-10% uplift over the 3080 for double the price. I also suspect VRAM will not be a massive issue at 3440x1440 either tbh and if it does get to the point notch a setting as above.

All that said, depends on price your seeing the 3080 for, if its one of those models approaching £1k then would look at a 3090FE, but otherwise just grab a 3080 IMO. FE if your quick enough.

Oh and another point, I prefer to lower resolution rather than lower graphical settings in case the performance struggles, and VRAM use at 2560x1440 vs 3840x2160 is much lower. Basically it's much more difficult to see the reduction in resolution at the distance I'm sitting from my screen, whereas the reduction in graphical settings can be really obvious.

Worth it? Financially no, something to finally get your hands on in these days we're in, priceless. Performance at 3440x1440 far exceeds the 2080ti I was using previously. I mean it stamps on it. Even with my new 3840x1600 monitor its still better fps than the TI was on the 3440.
