Was considering the 6800 (best 1440p gaming card IMO) but decided I wanted to be 4K future-proof and couldn't justify the scalped prices when a scalped 3080 was only a few hundred £ more.

Personally yes depending on the refresh of your monitor. 100+ I'd day 3090 is great, can run pretty much everything on ultra and bask in the visual splendour.

Update:

I'm still waiting for my Asus Strix 3090 OC which I ordered 15 mins after launch o'clock(!!)

I started at c. no. 187 in the queue NO COMPETITORS and now I'm down to 22. It seems that the Stix cards are the ones in shortest supply (highest demand). 3 months later I'm still waiting. I've never known anything quite like it.

I was offered a EVGA FTW3 Ultra as a replacement a couple of weeks ago, but I figured I'd already waited all this time that another few weeks wouldn't matter. Starting to regret it now.

Does anyone know if there are any issues with Asus?

I'm currently using the geforce experience performance features.

I've got the asus tuf oc what clock speeds are others hitting?

Most people for all cards use Msi Afterburner for tuning and tweaking voltage, and for monitoring GPU-Z and or HWinfo.

At stock default settings my Zotac Trinity will boost to 2070Mhz, though I do have good case cooling.

Yep MSI AB is a nice tool imo as someone mentioned above, will work fine with the ASUS. Also has some monitoring built in and graphs. Combine with the rivatuner app which downloads at same time and you will be able to log plenty of statistics and get pretty much any ingame OSD up and running with whatever stats you want. GPU-Z is also a nice tool to check things like voltages your hitting.

As for clock speeds, make sure to compare apples to apples, you can hold a much higher clock speed in say AC Valhalla, then a game like Control or Port Royal Ray traced which suck down the power.

First runs at some benchmarks (gentle start with Timespy DX12 for starters) with the MSI 3090 Suprim X at stock.....happy with the boost clocks for now

The 3090 is pumping some serious heat into the case, its hitting the temps of the other components hard

Is it safe for the x570 chipset to be in the 80s?

When I am pressing the GPU I just stick the case fans on high. Its loud but not annoying as they are low noise branded case fans however it keeps the GPU under 60c for them periods. What cooler is on the Ryzen @Grim5 ?
