EDIT: I take it Nvidia’s purchase page never changes? I know OCUK’s competitor puts up a new link each time.

When I purchased a 3090 last week I had Distill setup to refresh every 5 seconds but it was actually a notification from OCUK forum from this thread that I noticed first. Then about a minute later, Distill notified me. Not sure if we can share links to the page used on here but I setup two pages on Distill and only one of them alerted me. The approach that worked to order a 3090 was:

Nvidia store > filter on RTX 3090 > filter on NVIDIA > copy URL to Distill > use Distill 'select parts of page' function > select the 'Out of Stock'/'Buy Now' button.

The method that did not work was:

Nvidia store > copy URL to Distill > use Distill 'select parts of page' function > select the 'Out of Stock'/'Buy Now' button.

I know I spent too much money on this card, and a 3080 is nearly as fast, but for the use I mainly bought it for - VR on the Index - it's been massively worth it.

Elite Dangerous can now run at much higher detail levels and 150% supersampling and still maintain 90fps for the most part, whereas on my old 1080ti I had to run at 100% ss, lower detail levels and still couldn't maintain 90fps. The best thing is it no longer looks like a pixilated mess. You can now clearly see the details on ships and stations.

Project Cars 2 is the same - high detail levels and supersampling, with lots of cars on the track, and it's locked at 90fps.

Skyrim VR with the Ultimate VR Essentials modlist is running 90fps at 150%ss, and has never looked better, or felt smoother. Before it'd often drop into reprojection and was stuttery.

IL2 Sturmovik and DCS are also running without reprojection at much higher detail levels and resolution.

Oculus PC games on Quest 2 using link also run massively better, and I can max out the quality level of the link connection.

All the while running cooler and quieter than my 1080ti - and because of the FE cooler dumping heat out of the case my CPU is running cooler too.

For flat games I can max them out, but this hasn't made a huge difference as I'm only running 1440p, so not really stressing the card.
 
Anyone checked their VRAM Temps with the latest HWinfo as apparently the FE cards are supposed to run very hot +100c while gaming and over 110c if mining.

Yep, 81C peak on my 3090FE. That’s with +748 on the VRAM to run at 21Gbps.

However, that was only after running Horizon Zero Dawn maxed out at 4K, so not exactly a stress test.
 
I installed the new build of Kombustor a moment ago as when I opened it via AfterBurner I got an new build/update msg., it runs sometimes and not others (even as admin, strange).

It must have been EVGA's version that had the Vram stress test as this does not have one specific to the VRam FWICS.
 
86C with fans at Auto which strangely stayed at 30%

78C with fans at Locked 60%

76C with fans at Locked 100% so not sure what is going on.
 
That is pretty bad, tbh. It may shorten the lifespan of the chips and soldering points. The more I think about this launch, the worse it looks to me: scarcity of cards; black screens that had to be dealt with drivers and are still not properly resolved; this issue with the RAM chips... I am seriously considering to ditch my current 3090 when a new revision comes up and is ready available. That will be, probably, in 2024 or something like that.
