The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

It's the last few hours for the Patema Inverted kickstarter and they're really close to the OST stretch goal :)

Also for anyone that has the BGC kickstarter pledged, they've extended the period for upgrading your pledge/adding an additional copy to give people another week :)
I've decided to say "what the hell, you only live once" and upped my pack from the basic to the premium :)
I sort of figured that Bubblegum Crisis is one of my all time favourite anime series, and although I've already got it twice why not go for the upper package, I've no doubt I'll keep on watching it over the next few years :) (and shinies!)

I'm currently watching a bit of anime on the side, although my time is limited as I'm getting married in 2 weeks.

Congratulations:)

I managed to watch the Girls Und Panzer OVa's this week, which was good :)
Re Evangelion 3.33 I think we're getting in about feb, as I'm sure I got an email from amazon with the new date the other day (although they could be wrong, as could my memory).

I picked up a nexus 32gb which arrived yesterday so I spent a good portion of last night playing with it, setting it up with a wifi file manager programme (so I can transfer stuff to it via my home network), and getting media import so I can use one of my many, many, memorysticks with a otg cable as well.
First impressions are that it looks great with anime and films, so I can see it being a handy way to help overcome at least some of my backlog as it's much easier to take a table to watch when waiting to pick someone up than a laptop :)

Cheers, I've got mx player on the thing (it and vlc were about the first two apps loaded), I'll look at E-strongs as well:)

Aye, I remember looking at dvd/divx players for the car a couple of years back and deciding not to as I've never had much luck with dvd players with divx etc (we've had a couple, but the manufacturers seem to drop support quickly and you always seem to end up with files that don't want to play nicely for one reason or another).

That ES explorer is awesome :D

It's letting me access everything I have shared on the home network:D

I'm probably going to look at getting one of the small wifi hotspot/file server thingies (I thinky you can get some that take memory cards/usb, as well as with built in HDD's), as that may well be easier to use than the OTG cable, especially for in the car :)

Not been watching a lot of anime recently due to other things (playing wargames, cleaning the garage out, running around like a headless chicken), but managed to watch most of Kamisama Dolls which seems to be pretty good so far.

Can anyone recommend a comic book reader/cbr app for the android platform that can preferably read them from a wireless share?
I've got a Kingston Mobilelite wireless USB/SD card reader which is working out quite well, but comicrack doesn't seem to be able to read cbr files from it (I had a couple of problems with films etc, but found turning on hardware decoding for lan files solved that in mx player).

Had a bit of blast from the past this weekend .... ambled through Love Hina :)

One of the very first series I got on DVD:)
I think I watched it again last year (or the year before?), and still enjoyed it, even if the opening tune now sounds quite bad to me:p

Try ebookdroid it should work, think it covers network locations too....
Comics reader is another option although I haven't used it personally.

If they don't do network shares just use esfile explorer (or prog of choice) to open the file in the 'default' app. I've done this loads with videos :)

Cheers I'll give them a go, I was trying comicrack but that didn't seem to want to work, I'll also give perfect viewer a go as that's been recommended elswhere :)

Alex that sounds pretty awesome :)
Congratulationas again :)

I hope, and suspect that Ghibli will continue, but it could well be they (at least for the time being) become sort of an incubator for talent rather than their normal production, as from memory Miyazaki and co have expressed concerns about the lack of support/training for traditional anime production methods in the past, and they have tried to encourage newer directors in the past.

Possibly more (and publicly available?) Ghibli shorts and less full length?

I finished watching Mardock Scramble a few minutes ago and liked the third film, the ending felt a bit bittersweet.

I'll probably try and watch it again in a couple of weeks, as I'm fairly sure I missed bits as I've been so tired that I kept having to pause, or found myself getting distracted (so a film that was just over an hour took about 3 to watch).

I'm also going to try and read the book as I noticed it's available on the kindle app fora reasonable price :)

Aye, it's a style that some like so you get them (Ouran School host club for example has a couple from memory).
I can't remember the correct Japanese term for them (bishoun or something similar), but it has a long history in Japanese culture I think.

I've not really been watching much anime recently, but I am currently in the process of uncasing as many of my discs as I can, unfortunately for that process I liked boxsets, and I'm not about to put things like my Chobits box in the loft :p
I've done about 150 discs so far* and an increasingly large stack of empty case.
Anything other than an M-lock, true amaray or specialist case is going in the bin, as I've got hundreds of them in the loft already.

*I bought 3x 300 disc cases as a compromise between cost/weight/size and they're small enough to move and store easily without spending twice as much (for example a 300 disc case is the same sort of price as a 120 one).

Having had a truly bad couple of weeks, I thought I'd rewatch a certain anime about a terraformed mars with a lot of characters whose names start with A, which is just as good and soothing as I remembered :) (although I'm only a few episodes in).

Just received the latest update from the BGC kickerstarter it's going off for replication :D
This makes me a very very happy wolfy.

I cannot wait to see Bubblegum Crisis in HD, one of the first anime I watched knowing what it was, and still easily one of my favourites, partly because of the music fitting the series so well :) (the opening scene is awesome as the title music segues into Konya wa hurrican as the camera pans over the city and into the nightclub)

On a totally unrelated note, the Harmony Ultimate is a godsend if you've got a load of stuff that uses a remote, I got one a couple of weeks back (to replace the 555 that I damaged the screen on:(), especially as I've got my TV connected to 2 blu-ray players, a VHD box, PC, media player device (that really I could remove), a HDMI switch and my surround sound.
When I've got time I'm going to re-arrange stuff so that the things that I don't need to see are hidden and use the hub's IR blasters to control them.

[edit]
Watching Gurren Laggan and I'd totally forgotten so much of it (one of Yoko's comments about reading in the first episode, the bit with Boota in episode 4 which just had me laughing like an idiot etc).
It must be 5 years since I last watched it with the Beez (I think it was) release.

I'm tempted by it, but suspect it'll be cheaper on Steam at some point :)

I've finally got round to finishing the first of the Gurren Lagann films, which was pretty good, mainly recycled/reanimated footage for about the first half then it started to vary from the TV series more.
Oddly the end song on this is subbed, unlike the TV series (possibly because they re-used subs from the old Beez/Bandai subs?), whilst I'm guessing the films may have had new subtitle tracks.

I'm going to try and watch the second film over the next few days, hopefully it won't take me a week :) (I've been too tired to concentrate on subs for more than a few minutes by the time I've managed to watch anything this last week).
