The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Heads up on all the Ghibli films on Film4 from tomorrow. Meant to be subtitled too.

Yeah, I first heard about 3-4 weeks ago. I've been waiting quite eagerly for them. Unfortunately Im working during most of them, but...well it's the busiest I've been on my Sky+ for a long time :D

@demonix
Whoops, that is a bit of a slipup. At least they've fixed it now though (or are fixing it :))

*********
In other news, all of Rightstuf's sales items are now showing. Additionally, MVM's Deal of the Week is Ah! My Goddess for £10.

Picked that up as I like a romcom, and I've heard the name enough...can't hurt for £10 :)

Just finished sac 1 & 2 GITS, wow. story starts strong but gets a little flaky in the middle, still weaving plots and storys but a little flaky none the less and then bam! both seasons towards the end get very edge of seat, really gets you into it and gets you thinking; really good stuff, best anime ive seen {that doesnt speak for much but im pretty impressed} dub is good too. Not as fluid and 'true' as the movie but damn fine anime none the less!

One of the more enjoyable streaming anime series we've taken in at UK Anime this year has been Hanasaku Iroha, the tale of a young girl pulled from Tokyo and sent to live and work at her grandmother's hot springs inn, bringing a gorgeous-looking blend of drama and comedy to our screens over its twenty-six episode run.

If you're a fan of the series, then you'll be pleased to know that we'll be seeing more of Ohana and company in 2012, with the confirmation that a new Hanasaku Iroha-based series will be produced for broadcast in Japan next year.

Details are sparse at present, with the announcement coming via the Japanese publication of the Hanasaku Iroha "Green Girls Grafitti" manga (as seen here), but we'll be crossing our fingers that it gets the streaming treatment in the UK as per its first series, which you can still watch via the UK Anime video portal.

That's good news that it will be a new series instead of just an OVA which was possibly more expected. I wonder what they will be doing for a new series and hope that it will be as good as the first series.

Finished watching the Squid Girl DVD release earlier. I like the series and the little OVA shorts on the last disk are particularly funny.

Good news about Hanasaku Iroha.finished it last week and was wondering if/how they would make a second series.
Watched children who chased lost voices as well.:) that is one i will be keeping an eye out for to buy on BR in the future
Last 2 chapters to go on vol 31 of MS mate

You can get it on BD now ;)

(Note the Hanasaku Iroha OST in the background as well :))

No english sub or dub though :(
Buying a disc that I cannot follow the language or read the subs is a waste of money imho (for me anyway)

Ahhhh .... good thing that it does have English subtitles then, (on the main feature at least) :)

(I probably wouldn't have got it if it hadn't got them)

Nah, it's the Japanese LE BD Box ..... I got mine via PlayAsia.

If you're not impatient then it's supposed to be coming out here eventually and you've seen it in the mean time ;)

think i will wait then . just started vol 4 of k on , my hearing and appreciation of music must have died because the english version of brush pen, ballpoint pen sounded. . . . . . not as bad as the previous karaoke that was done on the other dvds :-D

No it's not just you, the English murdering of the song on the last disk isn't quite as bad as the previous disks ... it's still not good but it doesn't sound like it was recorded by someone in their bedroom ... :)

Errrgh, I STILL shudder remembering that first cover. Seriously, they'd have been better keeping the Japanese rendition, it was simply, truly, utterly awful, and sounded worse than fandubs I've heard which can range from not bad to...well...errr...forum unfriendly terminology :p

In fact I can't believe they wouldn't have got complaints from the fanbase about it, even those who prefer watching a series in english.

Edit: Andi, you import far more than me.

From your experience, what sort of customs would we be likely to get hit with if me and my brother put in an order to the value of $75+postage (~90 inc). I tend to try and avoid customs so I can't remember if we're likely to get slapped with a round 20% or something else.

I'm stuck at work right now so my chances to wander the internets are a little limited :)

Either £0 (if it goes through with no charges) or, worse case, say 20% of $90 + ~£8 handling charge (average) ... call it ~£20 very roughly, (figures are low enough that duty shouldn't come into it).

That's assuming RM/PF, if it's via courier then the handling charge is liable to be higher.

Cheers Andi, I can't imagine with my running streak of luck I'll get away with no customs charge haha

Still, RightStuf has now been given authorisation to sting me for ~£73, although my brother'll be giving me £30-35 for his segment of the order when he comes back from Uni during the week.

The final RightStuf sale order was:
FLCL Blu-ray Complete Series (Hyb) - Anime Classics (*) 1 $12.99
Mushi-shi DVD Complete Series (Hyb) - Viridian Collection (*) 1 $12.99
Now and Then, Here and There DVD Complete Collection (Hyb) (*) 1 $5.99
Soul Eater Blu-Ray Holiday Bundle (Hyb) (*) 1 $44.99
Trigun: Badlands Rumble Blu-ray (Hyb) (*) 1 $13.99

Trigun is completely my brothers, and Now and Then, Here and There is completely mine, but we both thought the $22 price for the SE BDs was too good to pass up right now, as they usually cost ~£30 per set.

Owwww. Er...I think I'll pass.

I know these prices just about float in Japan (why I'm not entirely sure!!) but I find it a little mad to release at those prices in the US, especially given the average price of a series there.

Is that just the Japanese boxset that's been released in Japan with the Japanese company choosing to release it in the West rather than going down the route of producing a localised boxset through a company like Funimation. That might explain the huuggeeee...price difference and the need to retail it at such a high price.

Just an educated guess. Someone more in the know feel free to correct me.
