The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Finished another series this evening; The Wallflower on Funimations S.A.V.E. label release. Now I picked this up on a whim with little prior knowledge and I was pleasantly surprised by it.

Basically you have 4 good looking chaps who are given the task, in the exchange for free rent, of doing a make over of their landlady's niece. The problem being that the niece is into horror movies, squelchy things in jars, skeletons and anatomical models and doesn't want to made into a proper young lady. Fairly predictable, but amusing. chaos ensues.

The series overall wasn't complicated but was still amusing at times and the switching of characters between normal and chibli forms was used well. The characters were quite likeable and the drama elements were also quite good.

I wouldn't say that the series would be to every ones tastes but I thought it was quite good.

Sounds like the sort of series I'd enjoy, although my own personal tastes sound like I'd get on better wth the before than the 'after' version they're going for :D

I got The Wallflower discs in 2 parts
discs 1-3 when ADV released it (then they cancelled :( )and had to wait/get the remaining discs from funimation. When i first watched the intro it was like uh oh back away....Yaoi
But that really has nowt to do with the story. It is better in Japanese with subs, but i don`t have to tell you that do I :D
The dub is not cringe worthy IMHO anyway but the translation uses wording that does not quite fit the subs that I originally watched

one and a half chapters to go on Vol 31 of MS ;)

Fortunately, whilst the male character styling may look it, there isn't any Yaoi in the series. I only had very small exposures to the dub (due to the BD player defaulting back to that when it's been power cycled).

For the Eureka 7 Fans.

I'll be keeping a close eye on that me thinks.

also

Toradora OVA is out for all you Taiga junkies out there, and no, sadly, it's not a continuation or the original story.

Did you see that there's also been a bit of a surprise announcement of a new Eureka 7 anime to start airing in April? Entitled Eureka 7: Astral Ocean not much info is known yet (src) So basically an anime of the new manga ... I'm not sure whether this is a good thing or not ... whilst I enjoyed the original series I did think it was quite long and did seem to come to a reasonable conclusion.

Finished a quick rewatch of A Bridge To The Starry Skies earlier ... ok yes it's a pretty straight forward harem anime but it's a pretty good little watch. I particularly like the Hina character who spends most of her time sporting some pretty epic zettai ryouiki (particularly in her normal out-of-school clothes). I do feel that the series would have been better if it was slightly longer with the ending feeling slightly rushed overall.

Also finished of Tamayura ~Hitotose~ ... nice series which does fulfil it's remit of nice simple things being done by nice (simple) people :) I liked the series although I do think that I prefer the original OVAs to it. The series almost seemed to try to hard at times.

That E7 news sounds good :)
I really liked the TV series, but have yet to read the manga, despite having had it for over a year (I seem to sit on Manga for ages before reading it - I've got the CCS manga as well, and it took me about 9 months to read welcome to the nhk).

I finished FMP, I forget how much fun/how good some series are when I haven't seen them for a while, and have started on Arakawa under the bridge.
I'm debating picking up a bli-ray drive for the PC in the new year if I can use the same drive but different software for A and B titles:) (or can easily change the software region).

I know AnyDVDHD is supposed to remove region locking for BD playback under Windows, (I have it on this laptop, along with a BD drive, but I don't think I've ever played a BD on it as the drives quite noisy). Isn't free though.

You an either use software like Passkey/AnyDVDHD, or use a slightly older version of PowerDVD - the newest version (11?) is a lot harder, but the older versions you could reset the region code extremely easily. I use 10 as it's the last before they decided to make circumventing harder, and thus offers a good compromise between being able to reset easily, whilst also being relatively updated in terms of features, BD security etc.

Just read up on that anime news..interesting. I'm just wondering how it could actually work.

E7 really worked because of the characters. You loved them and hated them at the same time but they were great to follow from start to finish. I just hope that this series works as well.

Thanks for the info on Tamayura, liked the OVA and did not know of a series based on these :)
A Bridge To The Starry Skies looks like i will enjoy this too
Ohhh my head this morning.Yesterday was our Xmas P****p ;) not feeling too good atm :(

Watched the Toradora OVA last night, after recovering a bit ;)
Was a bit disappointed tbh,was expecting/hoping for a continuation but it was to all intent and purpose just another episode
Tamayura series to start this afternoon,so long as there are no visitors

Are you saying it's set before the last episode? OVA tend to do that. I'm begining to not bother with OVA's anymore as they're a waste of time. The only ones that were any good was Love Hina as that actually advanced the story to a conclusion (The Christmas One)

Merry Christmas everyone!

I'm guessing some of you may have come away with thread related hauls, either as gifts to yourself, or as presents :)

I was given the Dissapearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (BD/DVD US Combo), but also given £50 towards whatever I wanted, and my company gave me a £50 voucher useable at HMV, so additionally to DoTS, I've now got the following due:

Arrietty Deluxe (BD/DVD Combo) Preordered
Whisper of the Heart BD Preordered
Nausicaa BD ordered
Sengoku Basara BD ordered
Shigurui BD ordered
Welcome to NHK Preordered
Rin Daughters of the Mnemosyne ordered
Noien Complete ordered

Fairly good for £4 real cost to me :D

Merry Christmas .... got a few things ...

Samurai Girls BD
Modern Magic Made Simple
Himawari season 1
Amagami SS part 1
Kobato part 1
Bakuman part 1
Initial D First Stage

It's also my birthday next week so there is a very good chance of some part 2s then :). I also know I'm getting Arietty BD and Whisper of the Heart BD when they come out as they were ordered before the delay to January.

Just been catching up with this seasons stuff.

Mirai Nikki

I'm finding that I'm enjoying this allot. It feels very similar to death note in many ways but it seems to be more aware of it's stupidity without making it cringeworthy.

Last Exile

I just..I still don't know what to make of this. I just don't care for any of the new characters at all. It doesn't exactly draw you in. It's 11 episodes in and it's just not really..gone anywhere.

It's not...terrible. It's just...dissapointing which, speaking as an anime fan is kind of sad because the original series was one of those shows that i would happily put up there with the greats like Ghost in the Shell, Eva, Shinkai, Ghibli etc. It was different and something unique.

Yay Alvis!

Well, I managed to finish Ghost Hunt yesterday, and I'm closed to finishing Kara no Kyoukai, so I expect to start Puella Magicka in the next day or two to get through the remaining shows in my Supernatural list and move onto either my drama/romance season or my mecha seasons :)
