The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

I enjoyed it, like most Shounen anime it has arcs that aren't as good as others but even those ones have times were you'll feel hype for the characters. The soundtrack is one of the best for an anime show with what it makes you feel only second I'd say to Naruto, characters are unique enough to be different from other shows.

I chipped away at it last year to catch up after binging One Piece, in total there's around 350 - 360 episodes for all 3 seasons.

Actually, I've not seen Naruto, One Piece or Fairy Tail....

One Piece and Fairy Tail definitely worth it, 350 - 360 episodes of Fairy Tail, One Piece is over 900 now and still airing weekly but the anime has caught upto the Magna arc so were on filler episodes currently. Naruto and Naruto Shippūden would be a time sink for sure I haven't watched Boruto which is the follow on from Naruto after it aired and that's now over 100 episodes.

Tbh I think that these types of long running shounen series are a bit marmite ...

Personally I've seen the first few seasons of Naruto and Bleach but have not seen the others, despite having more years than I want to think about where I was averaging almost 100 episodes a week, I just don't like series of that type and don't want to invest the time to watch them.

I'm not saying that any of them are bad, or that anybody shouldn't watch them if they want, but given the wide range of genres available it ok to just not want to watch some things.

as for my current big series, I be up to date once I watch the latest episode of "Boruto", seen all of naruto. rest I hidden in spoiler tag as their some detail that can be consider spoilers.
but as for "naruto shippuden" only seen upto where they were gearing up for the great war. bleach saw up to were they were battling it out over the town before aisen appears. one piece saw up to where they are on there way to cake island, detective conan I'm at episode 820, fairly tail can't remember exactly but I did see were they returned after the whole frozen in time thing. black clover I'm somewhere between episode 50-70

Enjoying Jigoku Shōjo, which is a lot darker than I expected. Very cool.

Go subs, or go home!

After seeing this post i started watching Jigoku Shōjo and this evening finished the 1st series. It goes get dark in places and after learning the origin of Hell Girl... :(

Kōtetsujō no Kabaneri.

It's Steampunk feudal Japan, and everything's gone to ****! Unstoppable zombies are ******* about all over the country, causing all kinds of crazy shenanigans.

The surviving humans have retreated to giant steam trains that criss-cross the country on a network of tracks connected by city-stations.

Can the scattered remnants of Japan's population survive the zombie apocalypse with the help of a buxom 16 year old mutant girl with an impossibly short skirt that defies the laws of physics? Sure, why not!

:)

It's good solid stuff, I was pleasantly surprised.

Sigh another one to add to the list lol

Not sure if it's still this way but the 'first' season was on Amazon Prime then the new 3 episodes appeared on Netflix.

Hey all, been while since i was in this part of the forum.

Hope ur all enjoying ur animes. :)

Lately ive been watching:
MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM: THE ORIGIN - ADVENT OF THE RED COMET

And i kinda like it. So has made me think it might be time to binge watch the gundam series. But where do i start, it has to be in eng dub, not be too old with too retro animation tho as i dunno if i could watch that tbh. Anyone maybe have a suggestion in what order and which ones to watch that has modern voice acting and quality if at all possible. If not ill review and preview on utube some of the series to see if i can manage em. I know its asking a weird thing as i know most will say the 75 version is a must watch but didnt they remake or remaster some of gundam not long ago so i should be ok to some extent?

I might have watched some in the past i cant remember i just at the time didnt like gundam type anime with big robots fighting and mainly action orientated but watching The Origin one it has been at least half the series not been soley about gundam but more political struggles and focused on a family struggles so slice of life kinda (stretch i know to say that lol).

I googled a what order list today but it looked complex to look through, was this. Too much info and not spread very well its all compacted one after the other.

Was hoping for a more personal list based on what ive said above tbh if at all possible. So who better than the folks here in the anime thread. ;)

My recommendation for MUST watch Gundam series for me would go (Ones i've watched):
Universal Century Mobile Suit Gundam - 1st entry
Zeta Gundam - Follow up in timeline event to 1st Gundam show
ZZ Gundam - Follow up to Zeta
Mobile suit Gundam - Char Counterattack, this is an OVA and worth watching if you have seen the 1st and Zeta Gundam at least
Mobile Suit Gundam Origin - prequel event before Gundam
Gundam Unicorn - Set years after the Universal Century shows, there is OVA and TV series you can get away with watching the OVA

Mobile Fighter G Gundam - Gundam 1v1 show is really good and a change of pace from war element and set in its own universe
Gundam Wing - Entering the era of Gundam that did get aired in the UK, set in its own universe
Gundam Seed & Destiny - You can get away just watching Seed which is set in its own universe, if you fancy watching Destiny then be prepared for a bit disappointment. Its essentially a modern retelling of the original Gundam and Zeta story
Gundam 00 - modern take of rebels vs empire type story telling
Gundam Build Fighters - If you're big into gundam model kit then this is worth watching

Gundam seed is like Original Mobile Suit Gundam but with it own twist to it to make it something completely different but it some aspects the similar, but "gundam seed destiny" broke away from the formula that made gundam seed what it is, but instead a up to date retelling of Zeta gundam but in gundam seed universe.

Working my way through the Garo series. Finished Crimson Moon and Animation. Now on Vanishing Line.

The quality of the animation is just superb, especially for the fight scenes, which are blindingly fast but still perfectly coherent.

Fingers crossed ... apparently might get a certain undine series actually shipped by the end of the year on BD. The original delivery date was September '18 but given what happened with the Kickstarter they can be forgiven from taking a bit longer (international orders are not partially shipped unless you pay more).

Watched Maquia: When The Promised Flower Blooms last night

Beautiful art and animation, but meh in terms of story/pacing/characters.

5/10 for looks alone.

I'd agree with that, unfortunately that seems to be quite often the case with some anime films in recent years

Well I doubt anything will every beat Your Name, and I thought A Silent Voice was good, recent stuff like Napping Princess/Mary and the Witches Flower/Maquia have all been subpar.

Hopefully Weathering With You will be good, and I still have some other older films to watch like I Want To Eat Your Pancreas/Mirai/Summer Wars/Genius Party/Tekkonkinkreet

I'm still hoping there will be an EU/UK release of that on BD at some point as I'd love to get it on on blu-ray but I'm not getting a region free blu-ray player:)

Has anyone seen the new Ghost in the Shell trailer?
I'm very much in two minds as I want more GITS, but the trailer looks more like something from a game cut scene than an anime.
