The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Have seen it, friend of mine likes the Ghibli movies but I'm not that into em. Looking forward to watching Suzume soon even if the premise looks a little odd.

I haven't watched many Gnhibli movies. Only Graveyard of the fires and Spirited away comes to mind but this movie is one of the more traditional themed stories.. Pretty good and still holds up well for being 20+ years in terms of animation and production. Classic imo.

Finished Baki Hanma last night, strange ending but it was a good watch overall.
Time to catch up and binge through Saint Seiya Omega, I'm now upto episode 35 and it just feels like a slog getting through to the good parts(when they bring back the OG Bronze Saints in S2).

First anime of the summer season ended, Atelier Ryza one. I liked it, was an easy going watch with nice art and characters.

Not going to win any awards for originality really, but good mix of slice of life/adventure.

Does the animation improve?

They apparently had to rush the first bit of Season 4.

I can't remember if it was that bad, been a while since I've watched it! if you're in Season 4 you're not far off the end of all of it anyway.

Hard to follow the precedent that Studio Wit had with Seasons 1 - 3 I think in terms of overall quality.

Unfortunately that's the standard with that production now. It still has amazing animation effects etc but the overall style is hard to get use to when the original was so good.

Not anime but...one piece the live action remake... thoughts? I just don't know it's ...ok

I don't watch anime (proper anime). I'm not a fun of subs and hate dubs.
But I thought one piece was amazing. I might start trying some anime based on how good it eat, and a general consensus that it is fairly like for like.

You're going to struggle with anime if you hate subs and dubs lol, unless you learn Japanese! :D

I don't recommend that btw, and certainly not for the sole goal of watching anime, learning Japanese from watching anime isn't great either, I know the odd common word by virtue of having seen a bunch of it.

The One Piece anime is about 1000 episodes long, I'm not sure it's a good starter anime to even try based on length alone.

Good starter anime:

Death Note (bit older but it's a bit of a classic and isn't insanely long)
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Attack on Titan
Hunter x Hunter

There is a huge array of different kinds of anime though, with lots of different genres, the stuff above is more action oriented.

Yeah it's why I've avoided anime until now.
I really find it hard to read and watch at same time. I find myself realising I've been reading for half an hour rather than watching.

Its why I like the western adaptions.

Yep I get it, but I'd disagree that most of them are worth a damn! The western Death Note adaptation was poor (which is weird as it should really have been quite easy to adapt!).

The One Piece one is apparently one of the better ones.

Cowboy Bebop one was also pretty poor I think, compared to the anime.

Yea get used to the reading. But the Death note dub is excellent.
