The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Did anyone watch The Elusive Samurai whilst airing? I watched the first few episodes and barring one character being slightly unlikeable I thought the art direction and animation of the chase sequences to be utterly mesmerising, still on my "Damn I need to actually finish this list" but was wondering if anyone had watched it through and could shed some light if it only gets better in terms of the visuals and is worthy of a watch? Not that I don't have a million other things to bloody complete before I end up inevitably re-watching NGE or re-reading Goodnight PunPun/Berserk

Can't believe MF Ghost ended in the middle of another race again lol. I think we'll get more and I am here for it (yes, even despite the fact they think we have low water pressure and run out of hot water lol).

Oh I forgot all about MF Ghost. Worth watching right?

I like it but I don't normally watch motorsports, so can't speak for it's technical accuracy in that respect.
I think the main criticism MF Ghost has over Initial D, the writer did get help with all the technical stuff from people that are in motorsport for Initial D. In MF Ghost he apparently didn't get any, so I would just watch MF Ghost for the entertainment over it trying to be semi-accurate.
If you like street racing but using some fake-motorsport interpretation, with some young adult romance drama then its a fun watch.
At least he nailed in getting all the right parts/sponsorship to use their rights. A lot of the parts on the GT86 are from blitz which you can buy.

How good was season 1? What anime is it similar to?
Really solid first season, dark dingy atmosphere coupled with characters that are fleshed out, motivated and have their own morals. Does throw in a little comedic aspect from time to time but not to a degree it undercuts the story at hand. Chainsaw man might be a good comparison? Though even as a fan of Chainsaw Man I'd argue Dorohedoro develops on characters a lot more and gives you more of a chance to connect with them. There's a reason it's got an 8 score on MAL for a reason and even while it's mostly if not entirely CGI, it doesn't take away from a really good story.

This right here! I will certainly be watching season 1 again when season 2 is released. I can't actually remember a lot of the main story, apart from that he wants his face back and mushrooms! Lots of (magic) mushrooms :D

In the final third of Gundam ZZ. Definitely picked up but the story dragged a bit early on, enjoying it for the most part. The change of intro was a pleasant surprise.

@kurosagi01 I really dislike the Qubeley design. Definitely not on my kit list. Coming around to a nice bit of gold armour though.

Look at some of the gundam seed kits they are pretty good. The most sought out kit atm is the Gundam Strike Freedom MGEX. While i was in Japan just november there i also saw they just released Chogokin Damashii Gundam Try On (its 3 robots form a Gundam) but its more a action figure rather than a model kit.

Its a bit of a joke meme gundam tbh lol

I am a bit of a Haman/Qubeley simp as it was my main that I used against my mate on Gundam extreme Vs on PS4. Then he counters me with guntank which is a beast in the game.
There is...Hyaku shiki from Zeta and Akatsuki from Seed destiny for gold/bright Mobile suits.

I do love the Guntank, even if it looks goofey with it's Zoid head (ah, another toy flashback). Haman appears to have that effect on everyone .

Yep, might have to get a Hyaku Shiki in at least HG. Trying to get the core suits from the One Year War and Z. Seed kits are on my radar for design alone (going to watch Seed as a break from UC after ZZ. I have the MG Buster Gundam to build because BIG GUNS :p.

@Kyo That Tryon looks very familiar. From what I can see it is fairly recent but I am sure I had a toy/model like that in the early 80s.

Yeah its a cliche thats been used extensively over the years when it comes to Japanese Mecha anime, it was probably Voltron or something similar which started the trend which became popular and influenced shows like the Power Rangers lol. Like i mentioned it was a meme Gundam which paid homage to the many robots comes to one giant robot trend lol.

Yeah seed kits are superb. Best design and varity imo.

Btw another good anime when your done with seed is Gundam 00 with the celestrial beings really good as well. Again not part of the original UC but an alternative arc from the mainstream.

@Kyo Now I think about it, a knock off Voltron sounds about right. I had that and my brother had an bootleg Transformers Devastator.

I will try and get through all the Gundam movies and series on Crunchyroll while I share an account with my daughter. Hopefully I can fill in any gaps via YouTube.

I finished Gundam ZZ and then watched Char's Counterattack. ZZ did improve but just felt like a rehash of the previous stories. C.A had everything I found irritating about character's in the previous 3 series .

Tempted to give the U.C a break and try Seed or some alternative timeliness stuff.

If you do go back to UC, make sure you watch 0083 as well. A must imo.
