I'm currently watching Black Blood Brothers which is proving to be prety enjoyable, after that it's Dance in the Vampire Bund, and Ghost Hunt.
Somehow I've managed to end up with a bunch of supernatural anime over October, without meaning to.
Dance in the Vampire Bund is relatively decent. It was another series, like Shiki, that doesn't shy away from the nature of vampires and the darkness of the world they're apart of, although Shiki was darker and more psychological in it's approach, whereas DitVB is more action-orientated.
It's also one of the series that comes to mind that leaves things open enough for another series, but actually does a good enough job in the final episode that you don't mind if they don't, because it's wrapped up nicely in it's own way.
Even though in your case it's accidental, the supernatural, Halloween-'theme period' isn't a bad idea either actually, thinking about it I've also got a number of supernatural series to check out, and a 'themed' period might be a good way to do so.
From the top of my head I've got:
Witch Hunter Robin
Negima!
Ghost Hound
Ghost Hunt
Kara no Kyokai (which sounded a bit like a mixture of Shana and Tsukihime, although I'm a little ignorant on this one so I could be wrong)
(Chevalier D'Eon might also fall into this from the little I remember of the synopsis)
and probably more with a supernatural edge all waiting for me to watch and this is a perfect time of the year to do so
What do you guys reckon I should start with? Something lighter like Negima, or something more serious?
I'm about 2/3 the way through both Canaan and Planetes now, Canaan's not quite holding up to how awesome I thought it potentially could be, but it's still decent enough, and the core concept of Synesthaesia is actually one I find quite intriguing, it's actually something I've thought about before as a friend of a work colleagues child is synaesthetic, they can 'see' sound as colours, which as someone who loves music... well it's a fascinating concept in some ways, and one I find plenty interesting both personally and in the whole 'what if' segment.
Planetes is a bit of a slow burner in some ways, but actually quite enjoying that. It's been quite some time since I've seen Sci-Fi in this 'near future' vein.
I'm getting through the shows a bit slower than I'd like, but I'm getting there heh
