The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Been catching out on a few things out of my backlog this weekend ...

Hatsukoi Limited ... on Sentai's DVD release. Nice little series in the romantic genre which is a bit different from normal as it's told mainly from the girls perspective. Don't expect anything particularly complicated but it's nice watch.

Majikoi Oh! Samurai Girls ... on Sentai's BD release. General make up is a harem comedy but there is a lot of fanservice and fighting type action. Generally the series is ok but the fanservice gets a bit wearing after a while.

The World God Only Knows season 2 ... on Sentai's BD release. This continues on from the first season with the two main characters continuing to try and capture lost souls using tactics gleaned from dating games. No real growth in the series though and it is left open for more at the end.

Latest episode of AKB0048 season 2 was good too :)

I managed to watch Samurai Shamploo over the last week which was enjoyable, sort of reminded me of Cowboy Bebop in places, with a mix of humour and some fairly dark/sad bits.

I'm going to try and wathc Journy to Agartha tonight or tomorrow if I get a chance (I've got a backlog of things to do as I've spent much of the week in bed with a bug), and then Tiger and Bunny set 1 should arrive tomorrow :)

I want to get Samurai Girls and The world god only knows, but they're fairly low on my list of priorities at the moment, and I'm trying to avoid buying any DVD's/Blu's for the next month or two that aren't already ordered :) (aiming for a big upgrade).

Finished watching Kodomo no Jikan the other day, was a wonderful series, just need to watch the OVA's and the very short second season next.

Shame the next season isn't very long.

Has anyone watched sword art online? I enjoyed it despite all the plot holes and perverted bits nearer the end (tentacles)

Worth watching if you've played a lot of mmos.
:o

Really liked SAO, really gutted its ended as from what I read there are another 2 arcs in the manga :-( currently loving hunter x hunter and naruto now that the fillers have stopped :-)

I loved Sword Art Online, it's going to be a true classic.

Some of my SAO stuff, also have a strap that is not shown. Asuna 1/7 scale figure is coming for May! :D

Legend! So glad it will be continuing. Will keep an eye out for it. Anyone else a fan of hunter x hunter?

There was an article on Kotaku some time ago where people had listed the top 10 or so Anime series most likely to be forgotten, and SAO was way up high :p can't wait for the game to come out though, looks like it could be a lot of fun.

Love HxH :D Watched the old one years ago, any idea if the remake is any good?

Never watched the original so have nothing to compare it to but think the current one is excellent. Has lighthearted bits which do make me lol, but is still serious underneath. The way the powers work in the anime makes sense and allows for good progression. So far there have been no fillers and the story arks have all worked nicely together... would very highly recommend that you watch it although takes a few episodes to get into and then even more before it gets truly epic!

Trouble is without any real information on what sorts of genres Chadd is interested in long lists of series which just contain what the poster likes, or considers good, will probably have many entries which are of no interested to him ... after all anime does cover a multitude of different things.

Given what he listed I would not really expect Ai Yori Aoshi, Chobits, Girls Bravo or even Last Exile to fit the bill unless he want's to try something completely different (which he hasn't indicated).

I would agree with Elfen Lied, Ghost in the Shell, Samurai Champloo, Samurai 7 and Black Lagoon. I'd also suggest Bleach (although personally it's not my cup of tea)

Thanks for the suggestions.

I watched some of Elfen Lied but it wasn't really my cup of tea.
I have since watched 'Origin spirits of the past' which I really liked. As previously mentioned I also like Avatar, Death Note, and Afro Samurai.

Other anime I like is Ghibli, such as Howls Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away.

I have also since purchased (but haven't yet watched) Summer Wars, Journey to Agartha, and Eden of the East. I've also been considering ordering Berserk.

I mostly like fantasy type Anime, preferably without guns or future tech if possible. Can anyone recommend any others like the ones mentioned please, preferably on blu-ray or dvd? Thanks :)

Yes, I read the same article, there was tons of other really good Anime in it. Clearly, the votes are done by bleach watching somethings, so ignored it.

claymore, Sands Of Destruction, Chrome Shelled Regios, Fairy Tail, one piece, Guin Saga, The Legend Of The Legendary Heroes, Kekkaishi, Queen's Blade, Yu Yu Hakusho, Samurai x, sengoku basara, The Tower of DRUAGA.

I would also highly recommend Claymore, The Legend Of The Legendary Heros and Queen's Blade.

Would watch Claymore first, it's totally awesome and highly deserves a second and third season! Which for some unreal reason has never got one while the Manga is still on-going.

just thought of a few other shows for you. Fate Stay Night, Fate Stay Zero, kiba. i would also say look at some of the following show but some do have guns, future or both: Gurren Lagann, BLOOD+, Eureka 7, tenchi, Gasaraki, blue gender, Sayuki, wolf rain, Hunter X Hunter, gun x sword.
