It’s only purposely antagonistic if you want it to be. when you have a state effectively wiping out another, direct comparison to the activities of the nazi regime are bound to occur. Maybe if a state doesn’t want to have some of their actions compared to those of the nazis well then maybe don’t be acting in a way that draws those comparisons.

Theyre not actively trying to wipe out the Palestinian people though. They're trying to take their land and displace them. A very important distinction.

I didn't use the definition to call our random criticism of Israel, but two specific examples, one where the posted claimed that Israel was an illegitimate state

Firstly, you misinterpreted my post as an opinion of my own rather than clarification opposing your wild misrepresentation of Hamas.

Secondly, you didn't use it to "call out", you used it to deflect and avoid discussion, and proceeded to incorrectly label me as a racist (which you have done multiple times since).

Refusing further discussion by throwing inaccurate accusations of racism is very 'social media' and completely unexpected by someone like yourself.

If you read the second post in this thread you'll understand why I continue to call you on such behaviour, as it is the tactic of those with child-like mentalities and not usually in intelligent adult debate.

By blurring the lines between anti-semitism and legitimate criticism of the Israeli state's behaviour they can silence their critics, especially if it's also backed by the law in the respective countries.

Trying to lump those legitimately criticising the Israeli government in with racist scum bags is utterly abhorrent but what I would expect from someone who sees nothing wrong with the twisted attempt to redefine the antisimitic definition.

Ah so if they are only after the land but the people already there fight to defend it and the outcome is they get wiped out that’s ok is it because they only wanted the land. So the Palestinians should just give it up and move on. Damn daft Palestinians need to catch themselves on and just be on their way.

You can legitimately criticise Israel without making Nazi comparisons, just as you can legitimately criticise ethnic minority people or groups without using racial slurs.

As such, any decision to do so is a choice to be deliberately and unnecessarily offensive.

It isn't the criticism that's the issue.
