The anti Israel = anti semitism agenda

I think what some people need to understand is that it is the identity of the people that is tied to the landspace(s) there. It's very different from being turfed out of your house in e.g. Hampstead and saying, "ah well, Fulham's nice, I'll go there". They believe that there are unbreakable ties with the land, the earth, their people and their history.

Weird, if people say that about land here they're called racists and xenophobes.

You can legitimately criticise Israel without making Nazi comparisons, just as you can legitimately criticise ethnic minority people or groups without using racial slurs.
.

You can, but it’s a very apt comparison so people do so. It’s got nothing to do with Jewish people. It’s to do with the Israeli people, who use the Holocaust as a legitimate example of a terror they have been through, committing a terror on other people.

Except its not. One was the systematic and industrial attempt to murder and entire race. The other is an attempt to take the land currently occupied by another group whilst displacing them.
If the Israelis wanted to wipe out every Palestinian they could. They won't because they're playing a different, albeit incredibly unpleasant game.

There's a slight difference between legitimate immigrants legally buying houses in the UK, and Israel capturing and turfing palenstinians out of their homes as a matter of national policy. Quite amazing you aren't able to make that distinction. The fact that you accuse others of posting 'steaming heaps' is just hilarious.

Actually, the origin of the conflict is in Jewish refugees fleeing to what was the British mandated territory at the time and taking up legal residence.
The Palestinians and other Arab people's didn't like it.
So somewhat worse than disliking economic migrants as they wouldn't even tolerate those fleeing oppression.

Well, some of the Jews fled. Some of them wanted to go and some of them were just shipped there.

It sounds a bit awkward to say that thousands of people "fled" the USA :D

It's really important, especially on this issue, not to make sweeping statements. But ignorance is one of the reasons that there's so much disagreement over the conflict.

I'm not surprised the Palestinians "didn't like it". Legal or not. I wouldn't either.

Doesn't look like it is gonna quieten down any time soon - after events today I imagine we'll see many more strikes through this evening and tonight.

For a moment there I thought you meant this topic.

But Netanyahu did say they would carry on for as long as necessary. I have a friend who lives in Israel who is constantly terrified at the moment. I can't imagine what anyone is going through there, regardless of religion.

That as well.

I've been watching live streams on and off all day from all over Israel and Gaza it is crazy.

While I'm sure having to go to bomb shelters is rather unpleasant in terms of actual deaths on the Israeli side it's a bit meh to be "terrified" tbh...

A grand total of 10 people dead from rocket attacks and 2 from civil unrest over 8 days AFAIK, in a country of 9 million! It's like being terrified of driving on the motorway because you drove past a nasty accident.

Back in January the UK had over 1000 deaths a day from Covid.

Atmosphere is getting increasingly tense with protests and the odd violence and the frequency of rockets getting through has increased slightly. It is definitely gonna have a lot of people on edge with the unknown of how far it will escalate.
