Does anyone know if I can obtain HE discount on Apple’s refurbished Macs and still get the 3 year Tricare for free or £50?

No.

It's a shame that I don't know anyone in HE as I could do with the discount, I myself am a student but I don't fancy purchasing a MBP with all my details off the college network :/

I have a friend in uni... Could I get him to let me into the uni library, sign in and let me buy a MacBook Pro with HE discount? Do they do other checks? :p

Technically I am in HE as I'm into my last year of my four year apprenticeship - but I no longer go into college :p

Could anyone from HE price up the low end 15" MBP with;

- 500GB HDD 7200RPM.
- MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Glossy Widescreen Display
- iWork preinstalled
- Microsoft Office Mac 2011 - Home and Student Edition

Please

It costs me roughly 1.9k outside of College and roughly 1.7k in College and I'm just wondering what it would cost from HE

Thanks

I would assume they would provide you with the discs to reload it, or you can simply clone the hard drive. That is what I did.

Would be quite good to save a bit of money but if they didn't send the discs then it could be quite tricky

I think your best bet is to maybe speak to them to just check what exactly you get in the box. All I know is the charger and brick, laptop and some discs that i never looked at sorry.

Thats fine, I might contact them in the next couple of days and see what they say

Edit: Just seen on another forum that there is a disc with the OS installation on it and it only works with your Mac, so I would be able to buy the new HDD,

I was checking at college and it would be £1.5k without the HDD and Microsoft Office (I can get elsewhere cheaper)

Hi.

If I order a machine from the HE store will I be able to give the invoice to my dad to claim back VAT like I sometimes do? I was wondering if maybe that would not be possible in this case.

Cheers

Order the machine...

But clearly state to them that YOU are the shipping address and your DAD is the billing address... That should fit in with both you getting the discount and your dad claiming the VAT back...

This does work... just say its for you (which it is) but your dad is buying it for you and wants the paper work in his name

:D

Would it be possible for my dad (He doesn't live in the UK, but is here currently on business) to claim back the VAT on a Macbook Pro (assuming that I bought it tomorrow under the HE scheme) when he leaves the UK on Sunday? Please note that he won't be taking the laptop with him for obvious reasons (So he'll just have the paperwork, etc)? Cheers guys
