The Apprentice Series 7

Does the guy Darragh on the aftershow wind anyone else up? I just can't stand the guy. It must be the 'lip thing' or something. Irritating to watch, fine to listen to I suppose.

Personally I think he's good at this gig. He was very funny last night.

How come we had two episodes in the first week?

I like the series so far but I do feel that perhaps the Apprentice is losing its lustre. I enjoy watching it to see the howlers and characters the show inevitably produces but I can't help but think that the show is getting more and more an entertainment show with each passing series rather than a serious entrepreneurial event.

Maybe so but did you seriously expect anything less?

Any 'reality' TV show that lasts any length of time will be more and more about the entertainment side of things. I mean even if you take something like Big Brother, in the early days there was at least some element of seriousness to it, contestents on there for the show rather than because they saw it as a fasttrack to Z-list celebrity status.

The Apprentice has gone more that way too, if you look at the video auditions they are giving it all that, coming out with outrageous one-liners to try and standout. The producers of course will be all over it, they need a few super-egos in the group to keep things bubbling. The editing has always be done for entertainment purposes too, like last episode they made damned sure they put in some clips of the boys saying how confident they were of winning the task, at the time I almosts thought hmmmmm, maybe a shock is on the cards here, they want to make these guys look like idiots. In some ways the aftershow or online clips can prove interesting because you get to see things that put people's decisions more into context.

Bit crazy 2nd boardroom I thought, surely Leon has shot himself in the foot by showing such weakness and letting himself be talked out of bringing Jim back into the boardroom. He'd clearly latched onto comments from LS about who he thought might be to blame and picked them, but then when confronted by logic changed his choices. I can't see LS wanting to partner somebody who lets himself be talked round so easily.

I didn't expect anything less but its still a disappointment when it happens. I agree with you about Big Brother. The first series was an unknown for us so it was always going to be good. But then, as you say, people just used it to get their 15 minutes of fame post BB-appearance, even if they didn't even deserve 15 seconds of fame.

I can understand the change from a job with Lord Sugar to a 50% stake in a business with Lord Sugar as a way of trying to invigorate the show but I can't help but think that either Lord Sugar should go and let someone else have a go or the BBC just retire the show.

Leon did hurt himself in the future I think. The other boys will surely use that against him in a future boardroom appearance, especially as he's had two appearances in there following two consecutive losses. He won't be around much longer I think. :p

It looked like they mixed the teams from the little preview at the end of last week's episode, certainly.

lol what a farfetched scenario! The Savoy has employed Lord Sugar to find all these items because everyone else has failed and so close to the new opening he was the last resort... hahaha
