UK Apprentice I enjoy because it's more "British" in a sense and they're not afraid to swear, when the US people swear it's rare and yet so controversial.

Trump/Sugar have different styles, Ben might have done a lot better with Trump than with Sugar, they're after different sorts of people.

It's difficult to say who I prefere, I enjoyed Season 4, S3 was rubbish (predicted the winner in week 1) and I don't like the way the US one is edited, it makes the task about 5 minutes then the reward about 20.

They're different shows, needless to say I'll be watching Season 5 when it starts next week.
 
I think it was for the camera - if he got rid of Syed too early it would've made the series less exciting. And he got to do the "You - I've Got Your Card Marked" act, which is uber-cool for the cameras :D

I despise that Syed guy totally and utterly. At least a parrot knows when to shut up.

"Hey, we could be the A-team in this van...put some stripes down it...*start singing* " - the look on Syed's face was pure evil. It's like he has no sense of humour.

He was blatently acting for the camera. When selling fruit to a woman by her car he stood *behind the camera* until the other two boys got the sale and then appeared onscreen from back left, ie walking across the view, to lean in and say "thankyou very much...yadadyada". I hate that.

True, thing is though the girls ended up with twice as much stuff as the guys through freebies so I thought it would have been fairer to put the 'amount spent' at at least £500, putting the actual profits at roughly the same :) Just IMO of course!

The guys definitely did better on a "pricer per item" scale...£2+ for a single apple - genius :D

You're probably right about that - though whether the producers have enough influence over Sugar to dictate/influence who he boots is another matter.

But if true, then it destroys any vestige of a point in the show for me. It's vaguely interesting IF genuine. If it's just a sham, it's a waste of an hour.

And I certainly wouldn't bet much on it not being true, :)

I'm now thinking another strong possibility for booting Ben is because he decided he had his chance to do something and did it badly, and left the others in hoping that they'd do something either good or bad so that he could judge them.

I also believe the producers have little/if any influence over Sugar because quite frankly I doubt he needs to waste his time and risk the bad publicity if he were to be swayed in any way for ratings. I remember him commenting about the last show, his main point being that he was there to hire someone and the TV cameras made no difference to his decisions.

But I know if I was him that I'd act up for the cameras a little in terms of manner, because otherwise it wouldn't be as exciting to watch. And hey...it worked for Anne Robinson :)

Equally, he must be genuinly extremely peeved when he's laying on all these lavish excursions for the teams and they've both disapointed him. I dread to think of the cost of all that, however pays for it :eek:

What I would like to see is the parts they cut out. This is one show where the rest of the perspective would be good to see.

Absolutely.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if AS were, as you put it, acting up a bit, for the cameras. I would be surprised if anyone were telling him what to do or who to pick, because I don't see him letting anyone (except maybe the wife) tell him what to do, about very much of anything.
 
No one would tell Alan Sugar what to do, however, its in his interest to provide good tv. This tv show is good publicity for his own company and products that he is linked to.

As a businessman he will know that it is in his (and his company's) best interest to make sure that this show is not a failure. Hence, it is in his interest to make sure he keeps the more colourful contestants such as Syed, in the show for as long as possible. However, when it comes to actually picking his final winner, he will probably think purely from the perspective of hiring an employee.

Like others on here, the over-active curly haired bint is already starting to grate on me. Here's hoping she's out soon. :mad:

I'm wrinting this, beocuse getting a word in edgeways when Syed is around sounds near impossible.

Ben went becouse as the Team leader he should have managed the roles of people better. 7 round one stall, 1 hiding behind the stall unboxing fruit! Clear a space, dump the entire box on the stall, Take the lid of the Box = Instant Display, without excess hadneling of the merchandise.

/slap Syed - Just for fun, keep him subdued by regualr slapping.

Ben seemed to be put forward as the team leader, becouse during the meeting where they decided upon a name, he ran the meeting sort of well, controled the flow of ideas and managed not to upset Syed even though everyone was thinkng "The A-Team, No ****ing Way!!!!"

When it came to picking a leader, due to how the meeting went he was chossen, when 6 people say they want Ben to lead the team, it is an oppertunity to lead and put yourself forward. If he refused he would be seen as week and not worthy leadership material so he couldn't.

When the lasses won by flogging more junk (I'll must stop using Amstrad Tech speak), Ben was for the chop as was the leader. The Hiding guy didn't do anything, so didn't do anything wrong.

Syed is just annoying and doesn't know how to put a structed agrument forward, just talks over everyone.

oh Crap! THey wanted Ben, he said something like thanks but lets make it random, they drew names from a bowl and it was Ben.

In my excuse its been 6 days since i saw it. And i did have a few glasses of wine and spent most of the show yelling at the screen saying they are doing it all wrong.

I only remembered that because i watched it last night! :)

I don't actually think Ben wanted to be project manager. I'm sure he mentioned picking one at random after some people suggested it should be him. I don't know why anyone would want to be project manager as it surely increases the chance of being 'fired'.
 
I know its a poison chalce which doesnt really have any advantages if you win yet gives you a far greater chance of being on the chopping block when you lose (especially in the early stages as like Ben last week him being a crap leader cost him his job if he'd have done really well for 3-4 weeks beforehand as a minion :p then chances are someone else would have gone, but at the beginning you have no past glories to live off so they just pick on the PM)

I think maybe something like immunity from sacking next week if you are the winning PM might make the job seem more attractive. Though that carrys its own problem that the PM could be useless yet their team could still win because of the other members yet the PM gets the immunity.
 
Names in a Hat, Your name is pulled out, your the PM, your name does not go back in the Hat so everyone gets 1 shot and thats it. How many times has a PM been given a task when they only have the most basic knoledge fo the problem.

PM is purly about asset management.

How many PM's have we worked with that barely know how to tie their shoe laces, but MS Project and Visio produced lterature always looks good.

We in IT should coin a new phrase, "Those who can do, those who can't Project Manage."
 
I think Ben was too much of a gentleman in some respects, as he refused to back-stab, unfortunately this did not go in his favour. It's a ashame as I am aware of people who know him, and state he is a very gentleman like, and an well known in his field.
 
Maybe if Ben had been a bit more honest in saying that he got the strategy wrong then he might have still been there. It says a lot about a person when they can admit they got something wrong and learnt from it, rather than trying to make up weak excuses.
